He or she will ensure they can undertake all emergency response duties competently.Responsibilities & StandardsPrepare for Start-upPrepare to Start Marine and Cargo OperationsStart up Marine and Cargo OperationsMonitor and Maintain Marine and Cargo OperationsPrepare and shutdown Marine and Cargo OperationsIsolate, Maintain and Reinstate Cargo SystemsOperate under PTW and Isolation Certificates and conduct toolbox talks.Assist with Enclosed Space Entry, Inspection and Maintenance Activities.Test Isolations for integrity to Company Procedures.Confirm that the working area is free of hazards as per Permit or procedure using appropriate tests (gas/H2S Inert, etc).Communicate effectively.Perform maintenance activities within limit of responsibility and training.Perform De-isolation; testing and re-instatement of plant are carried out according to procedure.Monitor And Maintain Pollution Control MeasuresEnsure that unplanned discharges are identified, halted where possible, and reported according to policy, procedure and regulation.Deal with equipment, waste or other materials for disposal according to the correct procedure.Perform Emergency Response RoleCarry out prescribed Emergency Response role (See Station Bill).Demonstrate competence during Emergency Response drills and exercises.Other DutiesCarry out HLO's duties in the safety officer's absence.Understudy Cargo Supervisor and take over from him when required.Pre-hire Qualifications and ExperienceOfficers In Charge of a Navigational Watch on Ships of 500 Gross Tonnage or More, with at least 3 years experience on Tankers and/or LPGLNG;FPSO experience is a Plus;STCW II/1 Second Mate or Third Mate;Advanced level of written and spoken communication in English;Understanding of Permit to Work systems;Personal SkillsPersonal: Conscientious, flexible, versatile and determined. Capable of assertive and positive communication and performance.Leadership: Good safety attitude. Good levels of written and spoken communication in English language. Positive attitude to teamwork.Technical: Appropriate standard of technical, legal and professional knowledge as defined by competences.IT: Practical familiarity with standard 'Office' software package.
