Organizational Setting
The project objective is to contribute to the national processes of strengthening family farmers in Brazil for poverty reduction and rural revitalization.
The outcome is to implement differentiated policies and programs that improve the capacities of the national government, local and family farmers in areas such as ATER (rural extension and technical advisory services), Credit Programs, land access and governance, access to markets and the strengthening of cooperativism.
Reporting Lines
The incumbent reports to the Assistant Representative in FAO Brazil – Programme.
Technical Focus
To carry out surveys and studies on the memory of agrarian conflicts and resistances historically built by the peoples of the countryside, forests and waters with a view to identifying the different experiences and strategies of social struggles for the affirmation of the social function of the land and their contributions to the preservation of Brazilian socio-biodiversity.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Conduct bibliographic research and data surveys in institutional documents and tools;
Prepare reports and data spreadsheets relevant to the activities of this Term of Reference;
Define, with supervision, which states should be selected for analysis in each geographic region;
Participate in meetings with representatives of proposing entities, presenting partial and final results upon demand;
Participate in workshops and meetings relevant to the preparation of consulting products;
Provide technical support and monitor actions developed on the subject of consulting with involved agencies;
Provide the MDA with information and parameters regarding the topic pertinent to this Term of Reference;
Systematize material produced in the Seminar Speaks of the Earth;
Prepare the Work Plan and the Products as established in this Term of Reference.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING:
University Degree in Applied Human or Social Sciences, according to the CAPES table of areas of knowledge.
Minimum professional experience of 08 years in human rights or related activities, or Specialization with 05 years of experience, or Master's degree with 03 years of experience, or Doctorate with 02 years of experience.
Working knowledge (level C) of English or Spanish and Portuguese.
National of Brazil or resident of the country with valid work permit.

Technical/Functional Skills
Desirable experience in studies on human rights, peasant conflicts and struggles (e.g., PRONERA, Agrarian Reform or policies for traditional peoples and communities).
