Structured as a matrix organization, Porticus has thematic leads that support sectoral work and regional leads that support the contextualization and prioritization of sectoral work in the regions.
The functioning of both these arms is supported by common central functional units, such as the Communication, People and Culture, Grants Operation and the 360* - which plays a key role in supporting Porticus as a strategic philanthropy, working in partnerships, with learning and evidence towards system change.The Regional Analyst (RA) will work in tandem with this matrix structure and support Regional Teams (Regional Directors and Programme Managers) of Latin America and North America in developing and implementing Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) methods, in close alignment with the 360 Team´s values and practices.
The RA will always support the 360 Team in communicating, training and implementing Porticus ways of working in the regions, making sure that Porticus philanthropic approaches, such as Meaningful Participation and GESI (Gender Equality and Social Inclusion) are being put into practice in our work on the ground.
Occasional support to programs within sectors and strategic grant-making outside of sectors might also be requested.
Through this, they will contribute to the high quality of Porticus' strategic philanthropy and, ultimately, towards enabling lasting positive change in society.Porticus is on a learning journey and is continuously evolving its monitoring, evaluation and learning practices, and it is expected that the RA provides contributions to this endeavor.In this role, the RA will be based in Sao Paulo, and will support the LATAM and North America team in collaboration with the 360 team (based in Amsterdam).Key responsibilitiesSupporting the Regional Teams:Providing support to the regional framework with MEL: co-design learning questions, provide Programme Managers and Grantees methodological support, ensure strategic alignment to regional plans, and synthesize insights derived from regional seeding and innovation.Contributing to the development of MEL skills (conceptual and practical) for regional staff.Facilitating cross-regional learnings and knowledge exchange, making sure that best practices are shared and contribute to our regional goals.Support the translation of strategic decisions, learnings and results in a variety of forms, as resources for decision-making.Supporting 360 Team:Contribute to strengthening Effective Philanthropy ingredients (e.g.
Meaningful Participation, Culture of Evidence, Purposeful Learning, GESI) and new strategic initiatives, and influencing them from a regional perspective.Contributing to the development of a simple learning approach/agenda within regional teams.Other areas of complementarity:Pursue regional effective philanthropy opportunities: building key learning/research partnerships, for example with key co-funders, experts, and champions within the region.Support the translation of key results and visualization of the interconnectedness of exploratory and sectoral work.Sharing this research and analysis in a variety of forms, both verbal and written, to primarily internal audiences, including staff, Regional Directors and governance committees.Qualifications Experience and skillsPrevious experience or demonstrated interest in the root causes of poverty and injustice as well as factors that lead to positive social change for the most disadvantaged.3 to 5 years in proven experience with all aspects of the MEL cycle, for example developing, evaluating, and monitoring frameworks, indicator development, design and implementation of evaluation methods and different learning approaches.Analytical and statistical skills, comfort with both qualitative and quantitative metrics.Facilitation skills, and experience working with diverse stakeholder groups, preferably online.Outstanding administrative and logistical ability including complex project management.Structured thinking at many levels (such as systems change and grasping policy thinking).Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and collegiately at all levels of the organization.Ability to communicate complex concepts and technical concepts in a way that builds ability and confidence within the team, as well as ability and ease to work and communicate across cultures, being aware of potential biases, especially with regards to Gender, Equity and Social Inclusion.Ability to navigate a constantly evolving organizational environment, making constructive contributions according to the different scenarios.Ability to navigate politically complex environments and manage conflict and tensions.Effective oral and written skills (both internally and externally), especially for presentation and communication.Excellent command of English and Portuguese (Spanish is a plus).Additional Information The position is full-time.
Being based in São Paulo and having full working rights in Brazil is mandatory.We offer a compensation ranging from 161,320 BRL to 218,000 BRL on a full-time basis based on experience and skills.Domestic and International travel is part of the job, estimation is on average 4/5 times annually.This role has two reporting lines, to the Regional Director for Latin America and to the Regional Director for North America and is a part of two different but equally passionate and collaborative teams.You may work remotely from any location in the world for 10 days per calendar year.An (online) assessment can be part of the recruitment process.
