**Responsibilities**:
- _Developing menus, estimating food and labor costs, and placing orders for food supplies_
- _Overseeing the quality of dishes throughout all stages of preparation and presentation_
- _Collaborating with Managers, Dietitians, and kitchen and waiting staff to address food preparation issues_
- _Demonstrating cooking techniques and providing guidance on procedures_
- _Preparing and cooking meals_
- _Explaining and enforcing hygiene standards_
- _Potentially selecting and training staff_
- _May involve freezing and preserving food items_
Skills Required:
- Successful applicant must have:_
- Education and Training: A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent is typically required. Advanced diplomas in hospitality or culinary arts can be advantageous._
- Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen environment, ideally in a similar role. Experience in various cuisines can be an advantage._
- Skills: Strong culinary skills, including knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety practices, and presentation standards._
- Hygiene Knowledge: Understanding of food hygiene regulations and ability to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment._
- Knowledge of Food Safety Standards: Understanding of food safety standards and HACCP protocols._
- Creativity: Ability to develop and create new recipes and menu items._
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to effectively work with kitchen staff and front-of-house teams._
- Teamwork: Ability to work well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment._
