About the Role: Principal LPG Analyst The Team: Principal Research Analyst - LPG will be a key role within the FCRS (Fuels, Chemical, and Resource Solutions) Shipping Analytics and Research business line responsible for developing and maintaining market intelligence quality and research flow for S&P Global Commodity Insights' Commodities at Sea service and Waterborne LIVE LPG and Ethane. In this role, she/he will report to the analyst team leader and partner closely with a globally distributed team of fellow analysts, data scientists and engineers and product managers to support this service. In addition to helping "own" the quality of our commodity flows and fleet metrics data, this role's key focus will be on writing and maintaining data-driven insights, analysis, analytical commentary and quantitative models on current and future near-term trends in the LPG and other related trade flows, marine and land-based inventories and other LPG supply-and-demand based concepts. Responsibilities and Impact: Play a key role in developing and maintaining market intelligence, data quality and research flow for S&P Global Commodity Insights' Commodities at Sea and Waterborne LIVE LPG and Ethane services. Provide analysis, analytical commentary, and interpretation of current and future trends in LPG commodities and trade flows including supply and demand analysis based on data sourced from governments, market intermediaries and other 3rd parties. Support the identification and vetting of potential new data sources that could enhance our models and outputs. Communicate insights to clients through published notes, presentations, calls, emails and meetings with clients and prospects. Conduct original research and data mining to identify interesting, potentially marketable, findings in our data. Document research processes to establish internal standards and support business continuity functions. What We're Looking For: Basic Required Qualifications: An expert-level understanding of LPG trade flows and freight market structures, maritime shipping and macroeconomics. at least 5 years total experience in commodity research and/or trading with at least 3+ years of experience in LPG market analysis. A technical/academic background in data analytics, machine learning and economic forecasting models that demonstrates excellent numeracy/written skills and comfortable working with large data sets from unstructured sources. Highly skilled in Excel and PowerPoint and experience in Power BI and writing in SQL and/or Python. Please submit your resume in English.
