**Specific responsibilities include**:
The Associate Counsel, Americas will have a unique opportunity to shape Ansell's growth and expansion strategy in the Americas, with a focus on the Latin America and Caribbean Region (LAC). Reporting to the (Lead Counsel, Americas), the (Associate Counsel, LAC) will provide practical, risk-conscious and actional legal advice to commercial and functional leadership.
The Associate Counsel will be the 'first line of defense' for any legal issues or requirements that may arise in LAC (including commercial, corporate, litigation, labor & employment, and government contracting) and assist with additional assigned projects in North America. The Associate Counsel will partner closely with our sales leadership, HR, manufacturing, logistics, and finance teams.
**What would **this** role look like in detail?**- Negotiate and advise the business regarding a wide variety of commercial contracts, including sales, supply, services, employment, financial, and leasing agreements.-
- Partner with human resources in managing a diverse and geographically dispersed workforce. Address employee disputes, benefits questions, terminations, and other employee issues.-
- Advise the business on various legal topics including corporate and commercial law matters, contract law, product claims and product liability issues, and data privacy.-
- Manage corporate secretarial function for all Ansell subsidiaries in LAC. Collaborate with Finance to complete statutory reporting as required by applicable legislation and standards (anti-money laundering, governance, corporate social responsibility, etc.).-
- Recommend, manage, and budget for outside counsel in LAC jurisdictions to secure clear, actionable input in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Manage all litigation in LAC (predominantly labor claims) through outside counsel.-
- Champion, model and train colleagues on corporate ethics, compliance and the Ansell Values. Support the Law Department in corporate compliance, governance and reporting initiatives, including compliance training and internal investigations.-
- Support M&A activity and other strategic transactions as they arise, including the integration of the recently-acquired Kimberly-Clark PPE business.-
- Review product claims, packaging and marketing materials to ensure legal compliance.-
- Keep abreast of relevant evolving legal requirements.-
- Assist with other Ansell projects throughout the Americas or globally, as directed by the Lead Counsel, Americas or by Ansell's General Counsel.-
- Support the Law Department in developing standard contracts/documents and associated processes and systems. Proactively contribute to the Legal team's planning, cohesion, consistency in advice, and the general efficiency and effectiveness of the team as a whole.**What will you bring to Ansell**?**
**E**ducation** / Licensure**Law Degree. Preference for an LLM (or equivalent degree) from an international law school.
Qualified to practice law in primary work location.
- **Job Experience**2+ years (4+ preferred) post-law school experience working as an attorney in a multinational company or law firm with a multinational clientele. Preference for experience working and/or studying abroad.
Experience in one or more of the following areas of law, with curiosity and initiative to develop expertise wherever needed:
commercial and government contracting
labor law and employee benefits
M&A
customs and international trade
corporate governance and management of private legal entities
Experience working across the globe in support of multiple time zones and cultures, and remotely.
Must have excellent academic credentials and be a qualified lawyer in good standing with eligibility to practice in your jurisdiction.
