About the jobWe are looking for an amazing Backend Engineer to join our Cars Agency team.
As a Senior Software Engineer in our Cars Vertical, you will be directly responsible for designing, implementing, deploying, and operating the complex backend systems that power our different distribution channels for Car Rentals.This role will be working on both feature development and infrastructure so you'll get to be involved in different aspects of our ecosystem.In this role, you'll be able to execute on big opportunities, helping Hopper rise to the top of the travel industry.What would your day-to-day look like Building and operating a robust and performant infrastructure that supports millions of bookings per yearSolving complex technical and software architecture problemsYou'll be able to ship your first code in days, iterating on features in an agile mannerLeveraging and contributing to a rich microservice architecture systemCollaborating with a diverse group of people, giving and receiving feedback for growthThoughtfully assisting with the evolution and automation of our operational processesAn ideal candidate has Solid understanding of microservices architecture and ability to autonomously develop Scala microservices (Scala is a plus but not strictly required, some experience with the JVM is strongly preferred)Experience building and managing multiple external API integrationsExperience and strong ability to design APIsProfessional experience developing data-heavy platforms or APIsExperience working with gRPC/Protobuf is strongly preferredFunctional programming experience strongly preferred (Java, Scala, Haskell, F#, etc.
