ICM Group is looking for a 2nd Engineer to work for a Major Oil and Gas Drilling company.
Job Summary: The 2nd Engineer is responsible for assisting in the operation and maintenance of the drilling rig's mechanical and electrical systems.
This role supports the Chief Engineer in ensuring all machinery operates efficiently and safely, contributing to the overall success of offshore drilling operations.
Key Responsibilities: Machinery Operation: Assist in the operation of all machinery, including generators, pumps, and compressors.
Monitor performance and make adjustments as necessary.
Maintenance and Repairs: Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment.
Participate in troubleshooting and repairs under the guidance of the Chief Engineer.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of machinery performance, maintenance activities, and any incidents.
Ensure documentation complies with company policies and regulatory standards.
Safety Practices: Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations.
Participate in safety drills and training sessions to ensure preparedness for emergencies.
Assisting in Watchkeeping: Stand watch in the engine room and monitor operations, reporting any abnormalities to the Chief Engineer.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering team and other departments to ensure seamless operations.
Communicate effectively regarding equipment status and maintenance needs.
Training and Development: Assist in training junior engineers and crew members on equipment operation and safety procedures.
Qualifications: Education: Technical diploma or degree in marine engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Previous experience as a 2nd Engineer or in a similar role within the offshore oil and gas industry is preferred.
Skills: Strong technical knowledge of marine machinery and systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and safety documentation.
Certifications: Valid STCW certification, including all required safety and operational certifications (e.g., BOSIET, HUET).
Working Conditions: Environment: Offshore drilling rig, subject to extreme weather conditions and varying sea states.
