**About the role**
We are looking for an **Agronomic Development Specialist** **for Latin America, with mostly of the focus in Brazil.
The territory and travel areas include all regions of Latin America, and occasional visits to the USA and other regions as required.
This position has responsibility to provide Sales, technical trainings, presentations, and other information to our customers that will contribute to our sales objectives in the territory and Rio Tinto's overall sales strategies and objectives.
Our sales in this region are heavily focused on the fertilizer industry, and knowledge of fertilizers and the local fertilizer market is a must.
The position will be 50 % technical and 50 % sales.
This will be done with the goal of maximizing the financial return for the business and ensuring that RTB's long term strategic objectives relating to customers and markets are achieved.
Reporting to the Latin America Sales Manager, you will be:

- Maintaining a safe environment and always acting safely.
- Managing the full commercial relationship and interaction with existing and prospective customers and distributors in the territory.
- Face-to-face interaction with customer's sales, agronomy, and technical teams to provide value-in-use training on Rio Tinto's products
- Working with farmers to provide training on Rio Tinto's products and referrals for product sales to Rio Tinto's distributors
- Work cross-functionally with RTB's market development, logistics, and operational teams to achieve sales goals
- Support RTB's market development team on external relationships with agricultural institutions, universities, and consultants to further RTB's sales strategy
- Delivery of the annual territory sales budget covering all RTB products.
- Maintaining relationships with all customers, distributors, and research institutions to pro-actively manage contract renewals and any technical or value in use projects.
- The successful implementation of the distributor strategy and end-use strategies within the territory to achieve regional goals.
- Providing input for budgets and forecasts, and competitive intelligence from the territory.
- Developing key relationships with functional departments within RTB (Global Agriculture Team, Customer Service, Marketing, R&D, Operations and Logistics) to meet objectives, communicate and resolve issues, and ensure customer satisfaction.
**About you**

**To be successfully considered for this role, you will have**:

- Bachelor's degree in agronomy or related field
- Master's degree in Soil Fertility, Soil Science or Plant Nutrition is mandatory.
- Precision Farming knowledge is desirable
- Experience or working knowledge of boron, other micronutrients, and value-added fertilizers
- Experience with certified crop advising or agronomic experience as appropriate
- Business acumen for the agricultural market: structuring the value chain, experience with large distributors and fertilizer industries (NPK and micronutrients) is preferable
- 5-10 years of experience in a customer-facing role (agronomist, sales, etc.)
- Experience in environment with multi-crops and regions across Brazil or other countries is desirable
- High technical knowledge in soils and plant nutrition to convince farmers to use our product
- Demonstrated capability to coordinate and manage direct accounts and distribution partners, including the development of customer plans
