POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director of Campus Life has responsibility for student and community engagement while assisting with other activities related to the overall quality of the student life experience.
The nature of this position includes evening and weekend hours.
During the academic year, the Assistant Director may not hold typical M-F hours as defined by the University.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Student Engagement Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a comprehensive student engagement program.

Advise Moravian Activities Council (MAC), the activities programming board, in planning and implementing a full and comprehensive calendar of events.

Provide ongoing support and development for student leaders in MAC through weekly meetings, one-on-one conversations, and informal interactions.

Attend and support all MAC-sponsored events including but not limited to late night events and off campus trips.

Assist in the coordination of MAC's planning for large-scale events.

Coordinate and implement ongoing training for the MAC executive board.

Create Event Reports that debrief events and include future recommendations.

Monitor MAC-related budgets.

Plan and execute University-wide fests including Fall Fest and Spring Fest, as well as monthly student engagement events.

Advise the campus yearbook, Benigna.

Develop and manage the Office of Campus Life social media account.
Support social media efforts of student clubs and organizations, including MAC and USG.

Serve on the Student Life Assessment Committee.
Gather and interpret data from student programming and activities to improve programs and provide recommendations.

Support the social event registration process, including the implementation of the TIPS program for student leaders.

Community Engagement Responsibilities:

Plan and implement the 1742 Experience, a pre-orientation service program.

Assist the associate director of campus life in the planning and implementation of the community service portion of Heritage Day.

Assist the associate director of campus life in the planning and implementation of alternative break experiences, specifically staycations over winter and spring break.

Coordinate and serve as the main point of contact for students and community partners within America Reads.
Oversee recruitment, training, community partner relationships and programmatic management with the support of Civic Fellows.

Student Life Related Responsibilities:

Be knowledgeable of, interpret, support, and enforce University policies.

Support the University's Behavioral Intervention Team and assist in the counseling of students on personal and development matters.

Work in collaboration with offices within the Student Life Division.

Assist with Student Life and University projects and committees, as assigned.

Perform other Student Life related tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree required.
Master's degree in a related field preferred.

1-3 years of experience in community and/or student engagement, paired with an ability to handle multiple demands, is strongly preferred.

Skills in the areas of mentoring, leadership development, community development, conflict resolution, and a commitment to student learning and the student life profession paired with the desire to maintain an active involvement with students and community partners, as well as campus administrators at all levels and non-profit agencies, is preferred.

High energy and a willingness to take on additional responsibilities based on previous experiences or institutional needs is expected.
