SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the direction of the Associate Director of Human Resources.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Student workers as appropriate.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Director of HR for Faculty Affairs plays a pivotal role in the recruitment and onboarding of faculty, ensuring a seamless and efficient process from start to finish. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of faculty recruitment, including job postings, applicant communications, and coordination with search committees. The role also includes collaborating with Deans/ Associate Provosts and the Director of HR on faculty compensation analysis to ensure equitable practices, as well as supporting new faculty orientation and onboarding activities. The Assistant Director collaborates closely with leadership to ensure compliance with immigration processes for faculty visas and partners with the Director of HR and the Office for Inclusive Excellence to develop initiatives that support a diverse and inclusive faculty environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages all aspects of recruiting including, but not limited to job postings, applicant inquiries, search committee communication, rejection emails, etc. for faculty searches.
Prepare and send new hire appointment letters for all full-time faculty.
Work closely with the Associate Provosts and Provost to prepare and send Statements of Expectation (SOE) to faculty members with academic responsibilities, re-appointment, sabbatical decision letters, status change and course reassignment letters.
Review faculty personnel budget, process stipends, process start-up fund payments, and provide budget reports and updates as needed to the Director of HR and Provost.
Collaborate with the appropriate Dean/Associate Provost and Director of HR regarding faculty compensation, stipends, course reassignments and other remuneration to ensure equity across and within departments and externally.
Ensure equitable adjunct faculty processing by working closely with departments (Provost Office, Seminary, SPSI and Music) to confirm adjunct teaching loads align with university guidelines and best practices.
Serves as a resource to managers in terms of staffing needs, application and interpretation of employment policies, interviewing processes, recruitment initiatives, Moravian benefit questions, etc.
Administer new hire orientation for all new faculty and assist with new faculty orientation as needed.
Works collaboratively with the Director of HR and the Office for Inclusive Excellence to build and create initiatives focused on supporting the needs of faculty with diverse, multiple and intersecting identities.
Coordinate and manage the faculty visa process from start to finish, working closely with our immigration lawyer to ensure compliance with all legal requirements and timely submission of necessary documentation.
Be a key contributor and collaborator during the HRIS implementation.
Serves on search committees when needed.
Responds in an appropriate and timely fashion to applicants.
Perform additional job-related duties as assigned by the Associate Director of HR or their designee.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A baccalaureate degree in Human Resources or a related field and a minimum of three (3) years working in a higher education setting, specifically with faculty, is required. At least three (3) years of Human Resources related experience is strongly preferred. Experience analyzing data trends and a strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required. An advanced degree or SHRM certification is strongly preferred. A strong commitment to advancing the success of diversity, equity and inclusion at the institution is required.
Strong computer skills as well as experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office, Oracle HRIS, and social media is essential. The position demands excellent organizational skills, strong process development and documentation skills, and an ability and desire to work closely with all constituencies of the University including students, staff and faculty, in addition to the public. Must be forward-thinking and creative with a customer service focus. Requires a team player who can multitask and work under firm deadlines while maintaining strict confidentiality. At times, evening and weekend work may be required.
