With more than 500 staff in Europe, Brazil, and the U.S., we publish psychological assessments, books, and journals.We are looking for a psychology graduate to join our team as an Associate Editor, responsible for the language and content editing of new books. You will work in the Editorial team based at Hogrefe headquarters in Germany, and also be integrated into our Newburyport office (focusing on assessment development, marketing, and sales).In addition to completing editorial work, you will be identifying potential authors, suggesting book topics, and meeting with current customers at national (and international) conferences. Your expertise in psychology and editorial skills can help us create topic-driven books that expand our psychology, psychiatry, and mental health book list and complement our assessment tools.ResponsibilitiesReviewing book proposals and summarizing potential for success.Coordinating the language and content editing of book manuscripts.Liaising with authors about their projects and discussing potential next projects (where appropriate).Working with our production team to finalize the book manuscripts for sale.Preparing product information as well as creating marketing texts to be used by Boston and international colleagues.Attending national (or international) conferences as appropriate, to meet with potential authors and understand customer needs.Minimum RequirementsBachelor or advanced degree in psychology.Proficiency with MS Office suite.Strong organizational skills.Excellent verbal and communication skills with a higher-than average attention to detail and quality control.Equally comfortable working as part of a team or independently.Experience working in a psychological or publishing company a plus.This is a hybrid position based in our office outside of Boston, with some possible international travel.
