Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)If you are a communicative person looking for a dynamic and high pace role this is an opportunity for you. At this exciting role at the British Consulate-General Sao Paulo will provide administrative support to the DBT (Department for Business & Trade) Commercial team as well as the UK government's Export Credit Agency.
The selected candidate will support the teams and the DBT Senior Management on the challenging role to help increase bilateral trade and investment between Brazil and the United Kingdom.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a high pace diverse environment, participating in commercial meetings and working on trade missions, ministerial visits, internal and external events in order to develop professional skills and experience to enhance future career prospects.
Roles and responsibilities: Accompanying meetings with Brazilian and UK stakeholders, both virtually and in person; Ad hoc duties as necessary (e.g., photocopies, setting up and accompanying meetings, escorting visitors within the building, translating documents, booking flights and hotels etc.).Producing and reviewing internal briefings, documents and agendas;Market and sector research, producing reports when necessary;Business Support (50%): Supporting the DBT Commercial team with logistics in trips, missions, internal and external meetings, on the organisation of events (trade missions and fairs), official visits, seminars and workshops, if needed;Supporting the DBT Senior Management team with internal meetings and administrative tasks in general;Keep the team's folders, documents, systems, and spreadsheets stored in an organised manner;Work closely with SP Executive Office to provide support to DBT events at the HMTC's Residence.Lead on the tracking, coordination and communication of the Social Impact Metric, working with sector teams and teams across the Brazil network to highlight the development and social impact British companies have in Brazil.UKEF (50%): Work closely with the head of UK Export Finance providing administrative support enabling the promotion of its capabilities and developing opportunities in Brazil;Provide support for the head of UK Export Finance in Brazil with logistics in trips, missions, internal and external meetings;Develop studies and market analysis to support the activity of UKEF in the region;Promote UKEF internally with related areas, as an alternative to foster relationship and business with counterparties in Brazil, on government and private sectors.Resources managed (staff and expenditure): Not Applicable
Essential qualifications, skills and experience: Essential on arrival: Undergraduate Student, preferably in International Relations, Business, International Commerce, Marketing, Economics or other related areas.The student must also be flexible, dynamic and pro-active.Excellent command of written and spoken English and Portuguese, and excellent communication and presentation skills with both languages.Knowledge in Microsoft Office package.Good research and report writing skills.Language requirements: Language: English and Portuguese
Level of language required: Advanced or Fluent English and Portuguese (spoken and written).

Other benefits and conditions of employment: Applicants must have the legal status to live and work in Brazil. Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful may be placed on a 'reserve list'. If during the reserve period of 6 months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.
Learning and development opportunities: The Department for International Trade encourages staff development through interns programme, shadowing with colleagues and an effective development plan.
Essential HMG training will be given at the beginning of the Internship, with on-the-job training available throughout.
Working patterns: 30 hours a week, no more than 6 hours per day, usually with starting and finishing times at 09:00 and 16:00.
