The Chief Field Geophysicist is responsible for the integrity of seismic deliverables, ensuring the deliverables adhere to PXGEO defined standard and meet project contract specifications.
**Main Responsibilities**:
- The seismic operations take place in very variable environments (different seas, different areas, different seasons, different vessels, different equipment's, different clients' requirements and different resources). This position must be able to cope with these environments to do the tasks described herein.
- Responsible for the generation and QC of all seismic deliverables following the PXGEO global standards to meet the contractual requirements.
- Analyze marginal and anomalous data and advise the client QC and Party Manager on the acceptability of the data.
- Management of a small team of QC geophysicists, including training and development requirements, following PXGEO HR practices and standard.
- Develop and publish local best practices and work instructions for his department.
- Assist the Party Manager and Chief Navigator in developing and refining the acquisition plan.
- Communicate continually with the party manager, client QC and other department heads.
- Communicate regularly with the onshore project geophysicist.
- Maintain an up-to date database of the status of the recovered nodes.
- Assist the instrumentation team in tracking and reporting node failures.
- Ensure that consumables, including date delivery media, are sufficient to meet project requirements.
- The individual has the duty to care for their own health and of others affected by their actions at work.
- Demonstrate the ability to locate all relevant health, safety, environmental and quality procedures at their worksite.
- Demonstrate the ability to identify different areas in the workplace, the risks associated with each and a basic understanding of the regulations.
**Requirements**:
Technical Qualifications and skills:
Degree in in Geophysics, Mathematics, Physical Sciences or the like along with:
- Minimum 5 years' experience as an Onboard Shift Leader Geophysicist
- Equivalent experience (processing center, land acquisition, seabed )
- Medically fit for offshore duty in accordance with Oil and Gas UK (OGUK), OLF, or USCG
- English is mandatory verbal and written (Excellent Level)
- Strong competency with seismic data processing software and specific familiarity with Seaseis and the other PXGEO geophysical QC tools
- Good understanding of all ocean bottom seismic geometries and PXGEO acquisition technologies
