Description:
Kenvue is recruiting a R&D Materials Scientist to be based in São José dos Campos, Brazil. The Scientist will be part of a global initiative that handles current chemical ingredients portfolio. This person will lead global and regional projects to qualify alternative raw materials from strategic suppliers and evaluate their impact in formulas and process for existing marketed products within Kenvue Global portfolio (Baby Care, Oral Care, Compromised Skin Care, Beauty products), ensuring business reliability and cost improvements through science. This individual will coordinate technical projects implementation, interacting with cross-functional teams and suppliers, and conduct materials analytical characterization strategies.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Lead the implementation of chemical raw material qualification projects with cross-functional teams, understanding the impact to business. Flexibility to deal with implementation changes according to new alignments or business need.
- Generate technical data through laboratory and pilot plant batches. Independently perform analytical experiments for chemical raw materials (spectroscopy, chromatography, thermal analysis, wet chemistry).
- Prepare metrics and reports. Accelerate our transition to a digital-first company by delivering science-based innovation, predicting and meeting business needs faster and more effectively.
- Understand technical documentation and participate of technical discussions involving chemical raw materials and formulations. Assess impact of raw material changes to different types of formulations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for reporting experimental results and discuss with different areas regionally and globally.
- Identify process improvement opportunities to simplify procedures to drive innovation and complexity reduction within the organization.
Qualifications
**Qualifications**
- A minimum of Bachelor Degree in Industrial Pharmacy, Chemistry, Chemistry Engineering or related areas is required.
- Master or PhD degree or specialization in cosmetology will be considered a differential.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in product development or related areas of Cosmetic Industry or Chemical Raw Material Industry is required.
- Experience managing and executing technical projects is required.
- Experience in conducting physical-chemical (e.g., titration, assay testing, pH, viscosity) and instrumental analysis (e.g., HPLC, GC, IR, UV-Vis, TGA, DSC) is required.
- Advanced English is required.
