The Engineer reviews and analyzes assignments normally involving a major project or several smaller or less complex projects. These projects, by nature of their complexity and difficulty, require the fully competent application of conventional knowledge in a particular field of engineering or science. Through broader and more technically challenging work assignments, they will develop a thorough understanding of policies, methods, and procedures.
What You Will Do:
Perform detailed inspections and review designs and/or inspections on the construction, under the ABS Office supervision, as assigned, to show compliance with applicable Rules, Regulations, Standards, Engineer Disciplines, and contract commitments.
Once a problem is identified, describe a non-conformance and draft technically accurate and timely reports to the ABS Office.
Propose new approaches to encountered problems, work directly with the ABS Office to identify and resolve issues in the area of technical expertise, and make recommendations for changes in methods, procedures, execution, or designs when needed.
Prepare accurate and timely weekly reports and billing on all work performed.
Communicate the status of the current workload to all appropriate team members to ensure the clients' needs are met.
Implement and maintain ABS Quality System requirements relative to responsibilities after undergoing ABS Quality System training.
What You Will Need:
Education and Experience
B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.
Graduate from University with a minimum of five (5) years of related industry experience.
Experience in the infrastructure business in the Highway and Railway segments, technical processes, as well as problem-solving skills, are necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of related technical disciplines (Geology, geometry, earthworks, paving, traffic diversion, foundation, structures, OAEs, etc.).
The ability to identify, analyze, and propose solutions to problems.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Ability to work well with others.
Able to obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management Systems.
It Would Be Nice If You Had:
Active registration in the Regional Engineering Council (CREA) is necessary.
Reporting Relationships:
The incumbent will report to a senior level Engineer or Technical Manager. This position does not have any direct reports.
