In the role ofCoffee Quality Technician, you will oversee the evaluation of coffee raw materials associated with KDP Brasil Global Sourcing functions, monitor green coffee quality to ensure performance to standard and assist in raw material sensory evaluation activities. You will facilitate communication of quality standards and expectations to suppliers and report on supplier performance. Additionally, you will ensure quality standards and evaluation methodologies are aligned with Keurig Trading's customers.
TheCoffee Quality Technicianworks independently and performs general administrative tasks to ensure laboratory continues improvement and efficiency, also should support the Quality Manager in the evaluation of coffee beans and other existing products, and the compliance of the lab with established KDP quality standards and protocols.Responsibilities:Responsible of reception, register and codification of coffee samples into the existing tracking systems and databases.
Prepare and set up samples and rooms for sensory tasting events, including analytical, physical evaluation, dosing, grinding and brewing of green coffee.
Performs basic physical evaluation of green coffee beans and participates in roasting activities.
Build templates, matrix and sessions for cupping tests and execute panels in a timely manner. Participate in sensory activities including green coffee evaluation or tasting of other finished good products.
Prepare and write procedures for internal laboratory activities.
Follows up on findings/results with appropriate parties including internal and external stakeholders.
Prepare and distribute Quality Inspection Certificates to suppliers.
Follows all safety policies and general housekeeping practices. Ensures the area and its equipment and supplies is kept clean and organized daily or after work has been done.
Assist Quality Manager and Specialist with preparation of activities, information or reporting, when and where needed. Maintain laboratory statistics up to date.
Participate in the preparation and organization of extra calibration and training exercises and/or on-site sessions.
Calibrate and maintain lab equipment such as moisture analyzers, scales, brewers, thermometers, pH meter, etc. Get in contact with suppliers for technical support.
Manage samples stocks and other laboratory consumables inventory.
Maintain communication with other internal sensory sites for exchange of samples and follow-up of traceability information. Prepare samples for couriers.
Maintain coffee corner equipment and roasted coffee supply.
Participate in other small projects related with continuous improvement and internal initiatives.The Company may from time to time make reasonable variations to the type and nature of the work to be carried out by you.Requirements:
Minimum High School Diploma or similar.
Fluency in English and Portuguese language required
At least 2 years' experience in coffee, either as a barista, roaster or lab technician.
Minimum of 1 year experience operating Windows and associated Microsoft Office applications, specifically: Extended skills when using MS Word, Excel and Power Point.
Ability to operate analytical lab equipment, such as sample roasters, moisture meters, brewers, grinders.
Demonstrated organizational and communication skills.
Ability to multi-task, with attention to detail, manage time, and to work independently.
Ability to perform standardize work with repetitive task and motion.
Team oriented problem solver who takes ownership of their work.
Proficiency in Spanish is desirableOther preferred skills:Certification in sensory methodology as SCAA, CQI or any other locally.
Experience with implementation of GLP, QMS and laboratory certification processes.
