Collection Strategy Manager Location: Glasgow HQ G2 5AD / Wrexham LL14 4DU / Hybrid
Salary: circa £42,000 dependent on experience

You will help to coordinate the collection strategies of ScottishPower Energy Retail, ensuring the best use of media and collections tools to maximise collections and recoveries across departments. You will ensure communications are compliant to SLC's, industry Codes of Practice and best practice and manage the debt litigation team who pursue indebted customers for payment of energy arrears. You will also manage the Hardship Fund process for indebted customers.
What you'll be doing Strategies
Manage the departmental litigation operation, piloting new methods for enforcement.
Control and implement social initiatives to support customers such as the Hardship Fund.
Review impact of governmental mandates on debt processes and manage any changes.
Drive changes to collection strategies in ScottishPower Energy Retail in line with industry Codes of Practice and industry regulators (Ofgem, FCA).
Control and implement the various Collection and Debt policies.
Methods
Manage the internal debt litigation function.
Control the collection 'brands' including the timing of their use and write the messages delivered via different media (letter, email, voice, text) to ensure consistency and effectiveness of approach used.
Support internal and external audits and resulting actions and recommendations.
Write training for Collections and outsource providers to ensure compliance to policies.
Ensure the use of the most appropriate collection tools for those strategies, such as use of Credit Reference Agencies, MFV's or warrant action.
Engage in governance forums on key initiatives, supporting remedial actions and ensuring reporting controls and senior management visibility of performance.
Project manage any required changes on debt processes.
What you'll bring You'll be educated to degree level or have equivalent commercial experience with a working knowledge of debt and litigation processes, both domestic and commercial, and experience in credit management and risk activities. Strong networking skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels. A proven track record in delivering change initiatives that add value is also key, as well as well-developed project and programme management skills. You'll be adept at making sound decisions in a complex and fast-paced environment, implementing quality assurance processes, and possessing knowledge of collections activities.
Experience in people management and change management is required, along with excellent influencing and negotiation skills. The ability to prioritize workloads and focus on quality and delivery within set timelines is crucial, as is a good understanding of process improvement tools and techniques.
