Organizational ContextUN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.UN Women works in Brazil to make the vision of the Sustainable Development Goals a reality for women and girls and stands behind women's equal participation in all aspects of life, focusing on three strategic priorities:Women lead, participate in, and benefit equally from governance systemsWomen have income security, decent work, and economic autonomyAll women and girls live a life free from all forms of violenceThe UN Women Country Programme in Brazil is implemented in line with the national development priorities, as well as in line with the international human rights standards and commitments on gender equality and empowerment of women, of which Brazil is signatory, including the UN Human Rights Treaties, such as CEDAW, CERD, as well as with Beijing Platform for Action, Durban Action Plan and Agenda 2030, as well as the UN Security Council Resolutions on Women, Peace and Security.Under the overall guidance of the Representative and reporting to the Communications Analyst, the Communications Associate supports the implementation of the communications and advocacy strategies to increase the standing and awareness of UN Women with partners, the media and the public. The Communications Associate promotes a client-oriented approach in UN Women.III. Key Functions and Accountabilities1. Provide coordination support in the delivery of UN Women Brazil Country communications and advocacy strategy:Provide inputs and background information for the implementation of the Brazil Country Office's communication strategy;Provide support to communications and advocacy campaign management by organizing roundtable discussions, press conferences, and other publicity events and providing inputs to briefing materials and press releases;Provide support to programme and other areas of the Brazil Country Office on UN Women corporate communications guidelines and printing norms;Track and monitor print and social media and report relevant information to senior staff to inform strategy development.2. Provide coordination support to the development of CO/MCO's advocacy materials:Identify storylines and achievements within the Brazil Country Office for online and print publications;Draft press releases, articles, key messages and other advocacy materials;Support the translation, adaptation, or rewriting of information received for the local context; disseminate materials to appropriate stakeholders;Support the publication of materials for final approval; maintain relationships with printers/ publishers;Maintain library/ database of reference materials, photos, and digital assets;Follow guidelines from RO/HQ.3. Provide support in the management of the CO/MCO's social media presence and website:Identify stories, and provide input to the development of content for the Brazil Country Office website and social media channels;Update the website and social media channels, ensure consistency in branding;Research, compile and produce reports on web statistics on a regular basis and electronic surveys, as required;Maintain files, databases, and systems relevant to the Brazil Country Office digital presence.4. Facilitate knowledge management and sharing:Contribute to the identification of best practices and lessons learned;Organize trainings and workshops on communication practices;Provide/ exchange information with HQ and RO, MCO and other COs.5. Other:Provide support on special web/digital/media projects undertaken by the Brazil Country Office.6. Recruitment QualificationsEducation and Certification:Bachelor's degree in communications, Marketing, Public Relations or equivalent is requiredPost-Graduation course (Lato sensu or stricto sensu) or additional 4 years of relevant experience to the post, beyond the requirementExperience:At least 4 years of progressively responsible experience in providing support to campaign design and delivery, formulation and implementation of internal and external communications, advocacy strategies and related plans;Experience working with advertising agencies, international organizations or civil society organizations will be considered an asset.Experience producing materials for human rights or women's empowering campaigns will be considered an asset.Experience in the use of specialized communications software for content production, such as Adobe Suite or video editing software will be considered an asset.Languages:Fluency in English and Portuguese is required.Knowledge of Spanish is desirable.VI.
