We work collaboratively across regions, exchanging and sharing learning and connecting through in-person and remote events to ensure teams have a strong sense of belonging to a global team.Position summaryAs a Data Specialist, you will work on multiple projects with our clients and programmes to deliver meaningful environmental and social positive outcomes in their supply chain and production base. The focus of the role is to use data to analyse social and environmental risks within agricultural commodity supply chains and display this information in visual and engaging dashboards and reports.You will work on activities involving data management and analysis on a wide range of topics such as traceability and supply chain mapping, environmental and human rights risks assessments, supplier performance, deforestation and conversion-free supply chains, and human rights due diligence. You will also support the Technical Operations team in data management and visualization.ResponsibilitiesBe our technical expert and advise our clients on their approach to data management, ensuring best practices and a consistent approach across our project and programme portfolio.Support the development and carry out the calculation of key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and monitor environmental and social positive outcomes.Extract, organize, clean and validate data from various sources and support the technical team to carry out supply chain mapping, risk analysis, human rights due diligence, etc.Develop maps and analyse geospatial data.Design, develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports.Provide internal training and ad hoc support on the use of Excel, Power BI, GIS, Smartsheet.Support reporting and maintenance of internal operations data.Interpret client expectations to identify data-related needs and ensure efficient data structuring and analysis.Advise clients on mechanisms to host and maintain Power BI dashboards and associated data.Design, develop and maintain data management systems and structures.Support the roll-out of the Proforest Data Strategy, leading the implementation of its recommendations and priorities for the region.Qualifications, Experience and SkillsWe are looking for the following essential skills:Master's degree or above in either data science or similar discipline; or in social and/or environmental issues in agricultural supply chains.Advanced Microsoft Excel.Advanced Power BI (with knowledge of DAX).Geospatial analysis (either using ArcGIS/QGIS or programming languages).Strong skills in R and Python for data analysis, scripting, and automation.Fluent Portuguese and English speaker.The following skills are desirable:Smartsheet.Experience with risk analysis for environmental and climate purposes is a plus.Experience with database management systems, emphasizing object-relational systems.Proficiency in PostgreSQL and PostGIS, including installation, configuration, and optimization.Ability to develop and maintain efficient and scalable databases.Knowledge of advanced queries, data modelling, and indexing techniques.Environmental, social or climate related work activities in a forestry or agricultural setting.Work experience in a project based or consultancy setting, multi-cultural environment, and/or a mission driven organisation.How to applySend your resume and a cover letter in English and Portuguese to: ****** , adding "PFLAS Especialista Dados 2025" in the subject.
