Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies in New Germany (KZN) has an opportunity available for DC Dispatch Supervisors to join the team. The main purpose of this role will be to achieve operational excellence within the Dis-Chem Warehouse incorporating functions in the following areas: order consolidation, route planning, dispatch (both Local and Line-haul), returns, and vehicle maintenance, ensuring that both legal and customer requirements are met.
Minimum Requirements:
Essential:
Grade 12 / Matric
Transport Management or Supply-Chain / Logistics Degree or Diploma
Computer Literacy – MS Office
2 Years relevant experience in a Distribution, Logistics, or Supply Chain Environment
Responsibilities:
Ensure optimal route and space planning to meet day-to-day strategic objectives.
Understand and execute the planning process involved when stock leaves the distribution centre.
Ensure routing of vehicles to ensure optimum utilisation and vehicle turnaround times.
Ensure all deliveries picked the previous day are delivered the next day to local stores and within 48 hours to Coastal stores.
Arrange returns and collection of upliftments, tracking throughout the return process.
Assist in supervising the process flow within the return cage as per Dis-Chem standards and operational requirements.
Implement more efficient means of streamlining operations.
Ensure accurate administration for transactional excellence.
Manage and adhere to GWP, SHE programme, and OHS act.
Ensure department's consumable needs are met.
Ensure drivers are debriefed, paperwork is filled, and queries resolved.
Ensure admin and daily checking of all delivery log sheets to facilitate queries and credit note requests.
Monitor fleet running costs and diesel usage.
Assist in supervising maintenance records of vehicles.
Process all accidents and insurance claims.
Monitor internal and driver performance to ensure good customer service.
Prevent and act on security or risk issues proactively.
Assist in supervising outsourced companies, including daily and monthly monitoring of SLAs and costs.
Ability to analyse and interpret shrinkage indicators and act accordingly.
Maintain security consciousness to avoid theft or fraud.
Competencies:
Essential:
Knowledge of Distribution Centre, logistics, and supply chain operations.
Knowledge of business measures and targets related to own role.
Ability to communicate proactively to build cooperative relationships with internal customers.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
English – Read, write, and speak.
Advantageous:
2nd Language – Read, write, and speak.
