Mitsubishi Power is looking for a Deputy Project Manager in Barcarena- PA, Brazil SUMMARY The Deputy Project Manager (DPM) is responsible for supporting the Project Manager in project execution throughout the project lifecycle from firm bid to contract close-out. The incumbent is expected to improve in their knowledge and application of critical skills associated with project management to include planning, communication, scheduling, budgeting and cost control, deliverable management, scope negotiation, progress reporting and successful team interactions needed to meet contract requirements. The DPM works under the direct supervision of the Project Manager (PM) and from time-to-time will stand-in on their behalf as needed. Project scope ranges from equipment supply contracts limited to one or two pieces of equipment to complete consortium agreements that include the supply of gas turbines, steam turbines, generators and heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs). ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Assist the Project Manager(s) in safely, efficiently and successfully executing their project(s). Support the development and implementation of the Project Communication Plan. Support the PM's efforts to track financial and deliverable performance against a project baseline. Monitor and report on project metrics. Participate in the development and update of the Project Risk Register, including assessment of the risk mitigation strategies and risk controls. Support the development, distribution and retention of project records and reports. Actively maintain critical project organization tools while working to ensure team member understanding of roles and responsibilities across the project team. Actively participate in the development and update of an integrated master schedule for the project and work to identify approaching risks and opportunities associated with critical path method analysis. Support the PM in change management and the necessary reviews and approvals needed to request or accept changes in scope of work, and/or scope of supply. Foster cohesive team building and team interaction across both Internal and External organizations and stakeholders. Assess progress to plan, including earned value management evaluation of project performance to share insights and recommendations with the PM, Project Engineer and Team Leads. Engage in professional development activities in the areas of project management, leadership, finance, accounting and business administration. Perform other such duties as may be required. Support review and approval of Supplier Invoices and payments. Support review and approval of Customer Invoices for payment requests and receipt of payments. Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering or Construction Management from four-year college or university;
and four (4) plus yearsrelated experience. Must have exp. with the design, construction or maintenance of Combine Cycle Power Plants, project controls (cost & schedule) in a project or program environment, leadership of cross-functional technical teams and must have exp. with a power equipment producing OEM or an EPC engaged in Power Plant work. Language Skills:
English and Portuguese are required at working level, Spanish appreciated. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Computer Skills:
Proficient in MS Office;
familiar with SAP, project scheduling Knowledge of computer-aided design, database, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software, electronic mail, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc. Travel Requirements:
Up to 20 % travel required both domestically as well as internationally. Able to reside where projects are executed, including sites located in Brazil and Latin America.
