APM Terminals is undertaking a new significant capital and infrastructure project in the existing Port of Suape on half of the property of Estaleiro Atlantico Sul (EAS). This brownfield development has currently started since September 2022 and the construction activities at site have been started at the beginning of 2024. The project is planned to go 'live' at the end of 2026.
The goal of the project is to both construct and start-up a privately owned andnew fully decarbonized/ electrical container terminal , as well as expand the business value and proposition for entire region and hinterland for the main customer, Maersk. With the delivery of this state-of-the-art container- and general cargo terminal APMT has created the most modern facility of Brasil and South America.
The overall scope of this project entails the overall design, civil works (underground infrastructure, yard, new buildings & facilities, renovation of an existing, large warehouse), equipment deliveries (a/o STSs and RTGs), associated IT components, integration with the existing (port) infrastructure, operational start-up and integration of the whole into a working system ready for operational go-live.
The objective of this position is to manage, drive and be accountable for the alignment and correctness of all project interfaces to ensure the smooth execution and delivery of all physical assets as defined in the project scope.
This requires an efficient alignment of project interfaces which will be carried out in collaboration with the appointedCivil, Equipment/Automation and IT Package Managerand the various applicable vendors in the aforementioned fields of expertise. The integration of these four (4) packages into one complete efficient and effective working system and business process is fundamental for the operational go-live date.
Principal Accountabilities:
Identify, analyse, manage and optimise all project interfaces in close collaboration with the Civil, Equipment/ automation and IT package managers – and their respective scopes, conditions, designs and contract packages.
Interact closely with the (operational) Business Integration Lead and ensure that all operational functional requirements for the APM Terminal Suape container- and general cargo facility are met.
Engage closely with the full project team.
Understand critical dependencies and interfaces affecting the project, and ensure functional requirements are met for successful integration testing and go-live.
Together with the Project Management Team, actively drive and promote safety culture, ensuring all safety procedures are implemented and followed.
Cooperate with the Shareholders' HQ global functions for a successful handover on project completion.
Ensure Quality Control and Quality Assurance (QA/QC) plans are implemented and all relevant documents are included in the close out documentation.
Further responsibilities:
Together with the Civil Package Manager, act as project's point of contact towards all quay, yard and building contractors and direct suppliers.
Together with the Electrical Package Manager, review and comment as required on all electrical Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
Together with the Building Package Engineer manage and implement APM Terminals applicable decarbonization program for the project (like BREEAM certification for buildings).
Influence decision making processes on the electrical aspects of the project and cross-functionally interface with the civil, automation, equipment and IT packages.
Maintain awareness of all electrical, civil, automation, equipment and structural requirements, risks and changes. Report progress and liaise as necessary.
Oversee constructability and the value engineering processes for the electrical project scope.
Manage all processes and technical interfaces and integration with support from the project team by coordinating creation of and owning implementation and integration plans for all interfaces.
Propose, own and win buy-in from both the project team and Shareholders' global functions for the final technical integration plan, including equipment and installations (instrumentation), IT systems and civil structures on the basis of:
· o the baseline plan – Functional design, civil design, equipment, IT and automation specifications, which are built on business requirements, and
· o local requirements in conjunction with functional departments and the project team.
Take terminal overall design (including operational, civil, equipment and installations, automation and IT design) as input and connect details within the overarching project framework design. Focus on eliminating/minimising risks, safeguarding schedule with approved scope and budget.
Provide technical leadership and assist in training of less experienced engineers.
Actively participate in technical activities under the coordination of respective managers (IT, Equipment, Automation and Civil).
Ensure operational safety, health and environmental working conditions are included in realization of any detailed terminal design and engineering solution at all times.
Conduct technical interface design analysis on components and/or assemblies to assist in the development process by ensuring technical integration with all designs are cost efficient, manufacturable and reliable.
Execute project controls / project procedures to align the civil construction, delivery of equipment and installations, automation and IT infrastructure in a forward-looking manner.
Ensure clear communication within and from the site project team, including business status and operating measurement reporting.
Reporting and Scope:
No direct reports – only functional.
The position reports to the Head of Asset Delivery.
Geographical Scope: Suape, Pernambuco, Brazil.
Critical Qualifications/Skills/Requirement:
Requirement:
Experience in a technical, engineering project related environment, preferably in the transport and logistics sector for complex projects with revenues > 100M USD.
Proven experience in the cross-disciplinary fields of civil, equipment, electrical, automation and IT.
Proven experience with utilities and IT-/electrical systems.
Functional leadership experience – having worked in a functional organisation set-up.
Experience with process improvement techniques.
Project Management experience and exposure to Project Controls.
Skills:

Brazilian resident and willing to re-locate to greater Recife, Pernambuco.
Education:
University degree; minimum BSc. in Civil/ Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering.
