SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to the Assistant Vice President of Alumni & Family Engagement
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Assistant Director of Student Engagement & Philanthropy, Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement, Graduate Assistant - Volunteer Management, and support staff as necessary.
POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the assistant vice president of alumni & family engagement, the director leads the development and execution of comprehensive strategies to engage the university's alumni network, fostering lifelong relationships that support the university's mission, goals, and initiatives. This individual oversees the design and implementation of programs and activities to increase alumni involvement, volunteerism, and philanthropy. The director works collaboratively with internal departments, alumni leaders, and external partners to cultivate alumni connections and strengthen alumni communities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Management:

Strategically direct and grow the Alumni Association Board of Directors to foster continuous engagement between Moravian and alumni.
Build and maintain a robust pipeline of engaged alumni leaders, cultivating their involvement in various volunteer opportunities.
Oversee the graduate assistant for volunteer management to expand volunteer opportunities, ensure proper documentation of all volunteers, and find appropriate stewardship opportunities for volunteers.
Serve as the liaison to the Center for Career and Civic Engagement, providing strategic avenues for alumni to assist undergraduate students in the career development process through events, volunteering, and other opportunities.

Program Development:

In collaboration with the assistant director, design and manage a portfolio of engagement programs aimed at alumni of all ages, including but not limited to the Virtual Book Club, Business Directory, Moravian Alumni and Parent Program, Greyhound Networks (LinkedIn), alumni podcast - Houndcast, and Reunions.
Work with young alumni and Golden Greyhound affinity groups to foster meaningful relationships with both groups based on their current needs. This includes planning events, volunteer opportunities, and managing subcommittees.

Data-informed Strategy Development:

Utilize engagement metrics and data analysis to inform strategy, identify trends, and report on the effectiveness of alumni programs.
Present regular reports to university leadership, highlighting successes, areas for improvement, and future plans for alumni engagement.

Undergraduate Education:

Through the supervision of the assistant director of student engagement and philanthropy, undergraduate students will be educated on the importance of philanthropy and alumni engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required. 5+ years' experience with increasing responsibility in alumni relations, advancement/development, volunteer management, or related roles. Experience in higher education or nonprofit organizations is preferred. Experience must show a proven track record of success. Ability to work in a self-directed fashion and to serve as a member of a collaborative team. Technology-savvy with an understanding of database and management systems. Experience in an educational or higher ed environment desired. At times, must have the ability to work outside the traditional workday.
SKILLS: Requires superb written and verbal communication skills, a high level of creativity and innovative thinking, excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with staff at all levels, and the ability to represent Moravian University with tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality. Exceptional attention to detail, grammar, spelling, and consideration for the target audience using various formats (e.g. emails, letters, social media, public speaking, etc.).
Ability to productively manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment. Ability to prioritize, manage time efficiently, meet deadlines, and work independently and collaboratively, meticulous attention to detail, good listener with the ability to build rapport easily with internal and external constituents, a team-oriented person with a passion for education, excellent judgment, maturity, creativity, flexibility, a good sense of humor, and a strong commitment to the mission and goals of Moravian University.
