Position Overview:
They are looking for a talented Director of Regulatory & Legal who excels at working in a fast-paced commercial environment and has the highest standards of integrity. The successful candidate must have held Regulatory & Legal leadership roles within the online gambling industry.
Key Responsibilities:
This is an exciting role across a large region with different compliance dynamics. Your main priority will be Brazil initially, as that is their largest business and is the fastest-changing currently from a regulatory perspective. But over time, they envisage that you will also support across their other markets (e.g. Canada, Spain, Portugal, Colombia).
Extensive knowledge of betting regulations, including shareholder structures, taxation, payment systems, fund migration, product management, and auditing.Proven experience within the betting and gambling ecosystem, with in-depth understanding of both the products and the broader market landscape.Strong understanding of compliance in financial transactions within the Brazilian context, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML) practices.Demonstrated ability to anticipate and manage potential litigation cases and legal disputes.Expertise in negotiating and reviewing commercial agreements and contracts.Advanced proficiency in tax matters, particularly in discussing tax bases and collection process. Qualifications: Juris Doctor degree or equivalent, and membership in good standing with the Order of Attorneys of Brazil.5-15 years experience in a similar role.Proven experience in a similar role within the online sports betting and casino industry, with a strong focus on legal, regulatory, and compliance.Deep understanding of the Brazilian market and laws.Exceptional written and verbal Brazilian Portuguese & English communication skills.Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory and legal information.Excellent negotiation skills and experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal documents.Proven track record of maintaining a compliant and ethical work environment.Strong relationship-building skills with experience interacting with regulatory authorities and other external partners. This is a hybrid position. Only candidates based in Sao Paulo, Brazil will be considered.
