The Equipment Manager is to oversee a comprehensive preventive maintenance and repair program of all Turf Equipment. Assist in personnel, budgets, and purchases. All employees should be punctual, have good communication skills, have a good attitude, a strong work ethic, and enjoy a team atmosphere. The Equipment Manager will direct, monitor, and perform major and minor mechanical repairs on various diesel and gasoline-powered equipment under the general direction of the Golf Course Superintendent. The responsibility of this position is managing specialized work efficiently, with confidence and competence. The position requires above-average attention to detail, concern for the exact correctness of work, and a strong commitment to tasks completed on time. The person in this position will take work seriously, has a strong sense of duty, and is disciplined. A somewhat faster-than-average pace will be the norm for this position. Detailed, specialized work is the major focus. About Grandfather Golf & Country Club is a private 36-hole facility located in Linville, NC open from May to October with 12,000 annual rounds. Designed by Ellis Maples in 1968. Greens, tees, and fairways are Creeping Bentgrass/ Poa. Kentucky Bluegrass/ Mtn. mix roughs. The right individual will have the opportunity to aid in maintaining the #2 golf course in North Carolina. -Agronomy Team Full Time Staff: 13, 21 seasonal staff members. -Equipment: Toro walking reel mowers, John Deere and Toro fairway/rough/triplex units, John Deere Tractors, Dakota topdressers, Salsco Rollers, Toro sprayers, Yanmar Excavator, JCB backhoe, and Foley grinders. All Equipment is owned. -Conduct and effective preventative maintenance program in conjunction with operators to reduce mechanical failure and poor performance on all golf course equipment. -Repair of all equipment and golf carts. -Keep repair and maintenance records on all equipment. -Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical problems for all maintenance equipment. -Set heights and sharpen blades on the cutting units. Make cuts, welds and braze as needed in repairing equipment and mowing units. -Price comparison on all related parts and materials before ordering. -Maintain a clean shop area and keep it orderly and efficient. -Maintain an adequate supply of parts through requisitions to the Purchasing Manager. -Assure proper disposal of all related hazardous materials. -Work with the Superintendent and Assistants to provide quality turf conditions.
