To care for and expand its supply of rock powder, Terradot is looking for a geologist to expand its network of mining partners and integrate feedstock evaluation and sampling into the rest of the company's operations and logistics. The candidate will work under the Science Partnerships Lead to develop relationships with current and new mine partners, conduct and evaluate the results of the necessary analyses for vetting new feedstocks, and verify the consistency in their chemical and physical characteristics.
Role Responsibilities: Visit mines in Brazil to assess their potential to be an ERW feedstock supplier for Terradot.Conduct end-to-end mineralogical and physico-chemical assessments of feedstock materials (at the mine, in thin sections, and XRD evaluations).Manage the sampling and vetting of feedstock for pilots and commercial projects.Connect with labs responsible for feedstock analyses to manage information and payment flows and perform QA/QC on results. Background and Requirements: Bachelor's in Geology, Geosciences, or Mine Engineering (MSc or PhD preferable but optional).Strong mineralogy and rock paragenesis knowledge.Previous experience with the interpretation of mineralogical and geochemical analytical results (especially quantitative mineralogical assessments via XRD + Rietveld and thin section descriptions).Familiarity with geospatial data analytical tools (i.e., QGIS).Some knowledge of data analysis and management with Python.Personal Attributes: Be proactive and identify solutions for team needs as they appear.Emotionally intelligent and able to "read the room."Highly collaborative with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.Ability to navigate ambiguity and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.A positive, action-oriented mindset with a focus on outcomes. What does success look like in this role? Ability to travel to visit mines to evaluate exploration fronts, perform petrographic descriptions, and interpret XRD analyses.Conduct visits to evaluate the rock being explored, sample the rock powder and stock, and write concise reports about your visit.Maintain communication with laboratories to perform QA/QC on the analytical results of rock powder samples.Effectively communicate with colleagues from the science and logistics teams to provide geological context to projects.About Us: Our mission is to stabilize Earth's climate by transforming nature's most powerful permanent carbon removal process into a global climate solution.
