The project aims to identify stable coral reefs and empower stakeholders to protect these reefs from extinction through innovative partnerships, technology, best practices, and knowledge transfer.IUCN seeks a suitable candidate for the position of Field Operations Associate (FOA) to support project management and stakeholder networking, assisting in the effective delivery of project outputs.JOB DESCRIPTIONKEY RESPONSIBILITIESUnder the direct guidance of the Programme Coordinator and Project Manager, the Field Operations Associate will oversee the Bar reef seascape of SLCRI to support the achievement of four project outcomes. Responsibilities include supporting stakeholder consultations for establishing co-management platforms and collaborating with communities to develop conservation trust funds and identify coral-friendly business models.SPECIFIC DUTIESProvide day-to-day technical and administrative support to the project manager for project activities in the Bar reef seascape (Kalpitiya).Ensure smooth project implementation, including organizing workshops, surveys, and stakeholder consultations.Facilitate the establishment and maintenance of co-management committees and community conservation groups.Build strong partnerships with local and regional stakeholders, especially government agencies.Organize public information programs to engage the community and stakeholders in project aims.Conduct public consultations to inform the community about seascape design and business opportunities.Coordinate data collection for local land-use plans and coral-positive livelihood interventions.Support the project manager and partners during the seascape design process by providing socio-economic and biophysical data.Implement training programs to promote community protection of coral refugia.REQUIREMENTSCompetencies:A demonstrated ability to take initiative in difficult situations.Excellent communication, facilitation, and public relations skills.Able to live and work in remote areas.Experience in organizing workshops, surveys, and consultations.Education:Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or GCE Advanced Level qualification.Experience:For candidates with a Bachelor's degree, at least 5 years of work experience in coastal and marine conservation and community engagement. For candidates with GCE AL qualification, at least 10 years of similar experience.Experience in project-funded initiatives, preferably with international agencies.Languages/Other:Good written and spoken English; fluency in Sinhala is essential, and knowledge of Tamil is advantageous.Computer literacy including Microsoft Office and multimedia use.Salary:The minimum gross annual salary for this position is LKR 2,301,600.
