Overview:
- Fire alarm technicians coordinate proper fire alarm placement and install, test, and repair systems.
**Responsibilities**:
- Comply with established guidelines in UFC3-600-02, Operations and Maintenance: Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Fire Protection Systems.
- Repairs shall meet all OEM requirements and NFPA codes and standards.
- Maintain, inspect, and test fire protection systems to operate as designed and in accordance with NFPA.
- All maintenance, inspection and testing shall be recorded on the appropriate American Fire Sprinkler Association Form listed in NFPA 72, NFPA 25 Standards for the inspection, testing and maintenance of water-based fire protection systems
Qualifications:
- **Qualifications**:
- ** Minimum Qualifications**:One year of related experience may be substituted for one year of education if degree is required.
- High School Diploma.
- Must possess, A Valid Stateside Driver's License, and **able to operate a manual transmission** vehicle.
- Personnel working on fire protection systems must be certified per UFC 3-600-02.
- In addition to UFC 3-600-02 certification qualifications, the Contractor personnel providing fire protection system services shall be fully trained, qualified, and certified and experienced in the inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems.
- Must have sufficient knowledge of Monaco D21 Receiving Station, MAAP-X, Fike Suppression Systems, Simplex AFFF Releasing System.
- ** Acceptable training and certification include**:
- National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies Level II Certified.
- ** NICET Level II certification in Special Hazard Systems is a MUST.**:
- ** Qualifications must meet the criteria as outlined in UFC-3-601-02.**:
- All maintenance trade personnel certifying or inspecting repair or maintenance work that does not require an inspector certified by a governing directive shall be qualified at the level II NICET unless noted otherwise
- May be assigned shift work
- ** Experience**
- Knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
- ** Skills**
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills
- Client service and public interaction skills.
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
- Must successfully complete all training programs
- Must be able to type 20 words per minute
- Customer Service Training
- Must possess the following PC skills: Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must be physically and mentally capable to perform all tasks including the lifting of light and heavy items.
- ** Other Requirements**
- A normal work week is 60 hours (6 days per week). Must be willing to work additional hours, and night shifts when mission requires.
