Position Responsibilities: Implements and maintains a safe workplace program and ensures that safety is the highest priority.Reads and understands the manufacturer's operating manual for each piece of equipment before operating and ensures all team members do the same.Responsible for the safe and technically proficient oversight and operation of light vehicles and heavy equipment including but not limited to pickups, bulldozers, excavators, graders, and more.Operates heavy equipment as required, including activities in both dirt and snow: road grading, ditch cleaning, trench excavation, snow plowing, and road construction.Effectively leads teams to achieve departmental goals on a daily, weekly, seasonal, and long-term basis.Ensures safe and efficient use of all department equipment assets and resources.Works with Fleet Operations Supervisors to establish and modify schedules and goals based on priorities and equipment availability.Ensures all team members perform daily equipment checks and report safety and maintenance issues.Conducts equipment familiarization with team members to gauge proficiency levels.Provides daily written reports summarizing work completed, issues encountered, and equipment status.Completes daily work requests and assignments in a safe and timely manner.Attends meetings as needed to ensure coordination with all other departments.Ensures all team members properly complete timecards and work orders daily.Completes pre-season and end-of-season performance evaluations for team members.Handles confidential matters in accordance with management policy.Trains subordinate employees on performance and documentation affecting Operations Division metrics.Maintains self-control and represents ASC-Amentum to the highest standards.Ensures spills are reported and mitigated per existing SOPs.Reports and documents incidents in a timely manner.Performs general duties as required in support of ASC goals and contractual commitments.Complies with and ensures understanding of ASC Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements.Performs other duties as required.Required Education, Experience, Certificates and Licenses: High School diploma or GED.Five years of experience as a heavy equipment operator.At least six months of prior supervisory/leadership experience.Expected Skills and Competencies: Team player with strong group dynamics skills.Preferred: Class A CDL Driver's License.Rigging certifications.Familiarity with Microsoft Office.Prior cold-climate equipment operations experience.Ability to thrive in an equipment and resource-limited environment.Ability to work in a changing environment with regular redirects and change orders.General knowledge of project schedules and management.Basic hydraulic and mechanical understanding.A clear understanding of grade and drainage.Physical and/or Other Requirements: Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods.Successful completion of Medical and Dental examinations required by the NSF for deployment.Successful completion of drug screening and background checks.Must be willing and able to lift and move items up to safety regulation maximums.Must be able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting and working outdoors in extreme cold.Must participate in community programs.Valid Driver's License issued in the United States.Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.Boots Required: Yes Amentum is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
