As the Regional Latin America Head of Legal, you will provide strategic leadership not only in overseeing internal legal operations but also in managing external law firms, litigation, legal operations, legal business, and corporate housekeeping within the LATAM region. Your role involves contributing to strategic planning, policy development, risk assessment, vendor agreement management, stakeholder engagement, departmental management, and a synergy with Compliance to ensure legal regulations advisory. You will lead a team of legal professionals, both internally and externally, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and fostering innovation and efficiency in legal operations.
Day to day:Provide strategic leadership in managing relationships with external law firms across the LATAM region. Select, evaluate, and oversee the performance of external legal counsel, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality of service.Oversee litigation matters within the LATAM region, including resolution, regulatory investigations, and enforcement actions. Develop strategies to mitigate legal risks and minimize exposure to litigation through proactive risk management and compliance initiatives.Manage legal aspects of corporate transactions, product developments, Vendor Program implementation legal support, ensure legal documentation for funding sources, guarantees, and financial transactions complies with applicable laws and regulations.Assess legal risks associated with financial transactions and funding sources, developing strategies to mitigate risks effectively. Oversee financial transactions to ensure compliance with corporate bank law, identifying and addressing any legal issues or concerns.Oversee corporate housekeeping activities, including corporate governance, entity management, and regulatory filings.Develop and implement policies, procedures, and processes to ensure compliance with corporate and local regulations across all business areas.Conduct regular compliance audits and assessments to identify and address potential legal risks and gaps.Develop and implement strategies to integrate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into legal operations and business practices.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify ESG risks and opportunities and implement initiatives to enhance ESG performance.Ensure compliance with ESG reporting requirements and industry standards, providing guidance on ESG disclosures and transparency initiatives, especially taking into consideration corporate policies, Brazilian Central Bank regulations and BNDES' normative.Investigate allegations of fraud, misconduct, or unethical behavior, coordinating with relevant stakeholders and external authorities, as necessary.Cultivate strong relationships with internal stakeholders, Board of Directors, including senior management, business units, and functional teams, to understand their legal needs and provide proactive support, ensuring accurate and timely legal advice and support.Liaise with external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, industry associations, and legal counterparts, to address legal issues and promote the organization's interests.Lead and mentor a team of legal professionals, both internally and externally, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.Set clear objectives, provide guidance, and evaluate performance to ensure the achievement of departmental goals and objectives.All members enjoy: Two working days per year volunteering for a local charity.Health and Wellness program including healthy food, free health checks, fun health & vitality activities.Flexible hours with the possibility to work from home.Career development opportunities: online learning, and member development programs.Click this link for an overview of all the benefits in your region."We not only live up to the expectations of our customers for today, but also anticipate their market needs of tomorrow." Degree in Law.Admitted to practice law in Brazil.5+ years of experience in a legal leadership role, with expertise in corporate bank law and financial transactions. Previous regional experience preferred.Strong understanding of international and local corporate bank law regulations and financial compliance requirements.Proven track record of successfully implementing funding sources, guarantees structures, and financial transactions in compliance with corporate bank law and track record within BACEN, BNDES, SUSEP and other financial regulators.Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.Fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish.DLL's wellbeing ambition is to educate, equip and empower members to build connections, manage their mental, emotional, physical and financial wellness and maintain balance between work and the other priorities that make up their lives.
