Health and Safety Manager Company Overview
Our client is ASX-listed company based in Australia, that holds 100% ownership of a lithium project in Brazil. This world-class Project is within a few months of completing the feasibility study phase, with a goal of commencing Lithium production in 2026.
Job Summary
ROLE PURPOSE
Devise, deploy and sustain a safe system of work that enables everything we do, to enable everyone to return safety from work every day Enable Brazil projects, initially the Lithium Project and Operation to deliver Zero Harm (health and safety), while enabling quality, low cost project and production outcomes in alignment with the expectations of the Company, the community we work in and our contracting partners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Be the principal health and safety expert and advisor to the project to support all other personnel to become effective health and safety leaders. Develop and evolve an industrial health and safety strategy to ensure that the Company's Zero Harm goals are met. Collaborate with all project stakeholders, particularly the Company's owner's team, engineering, procurement, construction, mining and support contractors, to develop and deploy a comprehensive industrial safety plan, including policies, standards, rules, guidelines and metrics to deliver ANP without any fatal or permanently disabling injuries by any employee or contractor while undertaking site or other monitored work. This plan shall define what all project contributors will do and how they will act, with a focus on (i) adhering to minimum standards and rules, (ii) positive engagement through behavioural safety 'field leadership' principles, and (ii) monitoring and reporting on leading and lagging safety indicators so we can learn from experience before anyone is injured.
Develop and deploy a comprehensive industrial health plan including policies, standards, rules and guidelines to deliver the project and operation without chronic, permanently disabling or fatal health impacts to any employee or contractor from undertaking site or other monitored work. This plan shall define how each contributor's health is baselined as part of the selection and onboarding processes, and then maintained while working with the Company.
CAPABILITY ATTRIBUTES
Fluent English communicator at Cambridge C2 or better and a native Portuguese speaker. Lead major health and safety program for a remote, Greenfields project in Brazil supporting a workforce of approximately 1,500 personnel. Living inBelo Horizonte at the moment, and willing to live and work in Salinas, MG. Has the depth of technical capability to do as well as lead, as is required in a small team such as the Company's. Has demonstrated capability to build the Health and Safety system of work using industry best-practice benchmarks, and to effectively interface with, and influence engineering, procurement, project management and construction contractors, and regulators. Worked as an ex-patriot if not Brazilian, or if Brazilian has been successfully employed by a British, South African, American or Australian mining company The Rewards
