This is reflected by the inclusion of the company in the Bloomberg Gender Equality index and the fact that it has been certified as a Top Employer 2021 in Europe (Spain, Italy, France, Poland, Portugal, and Romania), both of which recognize its employee-driven policies.What You Will DoRole Overview:The High Voltage Engineering Lead will provide support to the HV Operations Team in the areas of ongoing maintenance activities and projects, integration of new facilities, betterment project development, and interdepartmental communication. The HV Engineer will also serve, in conjunction with other High Voltage Operations staff and the Electrical Engineers in Houston, as the Company's subject matter expert on essentially all HV issues.Main Responsibilities:Provide electrical, high-voltage, collection system, and substation support to operating renewable generation facilities which includes intermittent on-call support.Participate in the engineering, design, and construction review processes including review of collection system, substation, and transmission line designs.Support new project commissioning, documentation support, and assist with project energization.Review and continuously improve commissioning, maintenance, and standard operating procedures.Review maintenance records and recommend corrective actions to ensure reliability and compliance with the applicable NERC standards.Develop, review, and maintain work instructions for reactive and preventive maintenance activities.Develop and maintain electrical troubleshooting guides for intelligent electronic device (IED) training.Conduct event analysis of protection system operations to determine misoperation status in support of meeting FERC or NERC requirements. This includes the development, testing, and implementation of corrective operational plans for protection system misoperations.Develop and submit NERC MIDAS reports.Develop structured feedback sessions for all lessons learned with project teams to include misoperations, root cause analysis, and safety-related events.Review and maintain IED settings repository.Review and update project documentation.Responsible for maintaining compliance with NERC standards PRC-027 and validating and/or updating arc flash studies.Develop and implement site betterment projects including preparation of scope documents, exhibits, budgets, schedules, and requests for proposals.Interact closely with internal teams to ensure that project needs and objectives are met.Lead or participate in project meetings and conference calls.Evaluate and provide feedback on project plans, specifications, drawings, and documentation pertaining to renewable energy generation facilities. Participate in due diligence review of renewable generation facility electrical designs.Assist with updating of project documents that are NERC-related and act as subject matter expert during internal and external audits.Perform additional duties as required.Employment Type: Full TimeWork Site: HybridWhat Are We Looking ForMinimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Experience:5+ years of relevant technical experience.Expert knowledge of medium- and high-voltage substation electrical equipment including relay protection systems, collection systems, transmission designs, and operations.Experience with power generation or distribution event analysis preferred.Experience with establishing HV field service preferred.Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, Project software suites, and SEL Equipment.Experience with substation relay and protection system testing and troubleshooting.Experience with LOTO and OTO procedures.Familiarity with the operation of capacitor banks, transformer load tap changers, circuit breakers, and motor/manually operated air disconnect switches.Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products (Preferred).Competencies:Analytical Problem SolvingStrong CommunicationCustomer/Partner RelationshipsTechnology Expertise (Preferred).Travel: 25%Behavioral Requirements:Ability to write operating procedures and strong problem-solving ability.Ability to apply pertinent industry standards and codes including Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE), National Electric Safety Code (NESC), and ANSI (American National Standards Institute).Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of a valid driver's license.Ability to be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision.Ability to multi-task in a complex and dynamic environment.Ability to perform basic electrical mathematical calculations.Ability to read and understand plans, specifications, drawings, and documents relating to engineering and construction including one-line, three-line, schematics, and wiring diagrams.Willingness and ability to travel at least 25% of the time.Ability and willingness to respond to site emergencies as needed.Physical Demands & Working Conditions:Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to frequently perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching approximately 75% of the time while on renewable power plants' sites. Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment.Walking: Ability to walk .25 to 1.5 miles per day, including across unpaved and rough surfaces when on wind farm sites.Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.Lifting: Ability to frequently lift items weighing up to 50 pounds and to occasionally jointly lift items weighing between 50 and 100 pounds.Equipment: Ability and willingness to operate aerial and telehandling equipment.Vision/Hearing: Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.Tolerance to Extreme Weather Conditions: Ability to work in adverse weather conditions 25% of the time while on wind farm sites.Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary.Among EDPR's principles, we would like to highlight diversity and inclusion as a strength in our values and practices.
