Role OverviewWe are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for an HR Manager for Brazil, based in Santos/SP. This role involves strategic HR leadership in a dynamic, global environment, specifically within the fast-paced soft commodities sector. The HR Manager will work closely with key leadership, including the Coffee and Sugar General Managers and Finance Director, to develop and implement HR strategies that drive business success.Volcafe ltd is one of the world's leading international green coffee trading companies, operating in over 20 countries globally, in coffee procurement, sustainability, blending and export as well as importing and distribution, and it supplies the world's major coffee roasters and retail distributors with their green coffee requirements, with significant strategic growth ambitions for the future. Since 2014 Volcafe has been providing direct technical assistance to farmers, helping them to improve their coffee quality, farm productivity and yields via our Volcafe Way Farmer Support Organizations (FSOs). Key AccountabilitiesThe role requires analysing and improving current processes, supporting the development of new ones, and managing various HR projects. Key responsibilities include overseeing succession planning, leading compensation and benefits reviews, negotiating union agreements, and managing training and development programs. Additionally, the HR Manager will support budget processes, recruit senior roles, and ensure operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives and compliance with control standards.Reporting to the Regional HR BP Latam, this position offers significant long-term development potential for a skilled HR professional eager to showcase their expertise and contribute to a global organization.Strategic HR Leadership:Serve as the main HRBP for the Coffee and Sugar General Managers, Finance Director, and their direct reports.Develop and implement the HR strategy for Brazil, aligning with global objectives.Oversee succession planning, including the development of a talent pipeline for Brazil.Compensation and Benefits:Lead the annual compensation review cycle.Conduct biennial salary surveys to ensure market competitiveness.Implement and manage country-level compensation and benefits strategies.Union and Benefits Management:Negotiate and manage major union agreements.Handle negotiations related to medical bills and reporting.Renew and oversee benefits contracts.Training and Development:Design and implement training programs for technical and behavioural development.Support the trainee program and manage employee recognition initiatives.Budget and Financial Oversight:Assist in the budget planning process.Approve financial transactions such as bank payments.Monitor and review HR expenses to ensure budget alignment.Recruitment and Talent Management:Lead recruitment efforts for mid to senior-level positions within the Coffee and Sugar divisions.Operational Excellence:Conduct employee surveys to assess satisfaction and identify improvement areas.Coordinate projects aimed at enhancing HR processes, including onboarding and internal communication systems.Develop and track HR KPIs using BI tools.Team Management:Lead and develop the HR team, providing the necessary resources and training.Promote a collaborative and supportive team culture.Conduct performance reviews and offer constructive feedback and coaching.QualificationsEducational Background:Bachelor's Degree: Required in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related fields.Advanced Degree: An MBA in Human Resources or a related field is highly desirable.Experience:10+ Years in HR Management: Demonstrated hands-on managerial expertise in Human Resource Management, preferably within multinational companies or the commodities sector.Brazil-Specific Experience: Extensive experience operating within the Brazilian market, with a deep understanding of local labour laws, regulations, and union negotiations.Global Environment: Proven track record of working in a global environment, managing cross-cultural teams, and implementing international HR strategies.Skills:Bilingual Proficiency: Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Portuguese; Spanish is a plus.Strategic Leadership: Ability to develop and implement country-specific HR strategies that align with global objectives, including succession planning and talent management.Compensation and Benefits Management: Experience leading compensation cycles, conducting salary surveys, and implementing benefits strategies.Union Negotiations: Strong background in negotiating major union agreements and managing benefits contracts.Training and Development: Skilled in structuring and managing training programs for technical and behavioural development.Financial Acumen: Capable of supporting the budget process, approving financial transactions, and reviewing HR expenses.Recruitment Expertise: Proven ability to recruit mid to senior-level roles, particularly within specialized divisions such as Coffee and Sugar.Operational Excellence: Commitment to continuous improvement through employee surveys, onboarding processes, and internal communications.Personal Attributes:Strong Interpersonal Skills: Ability to develop strong working relationships, drive collaboration, and effectively manage stakeholder expectations.Leadership: A confident leader with experience in guiding and developing HR teams.Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive and initiative-taking approach.Positive Demeanour: Positive, approachable, and able to foster a supportive work environment.As an ever-friendly reminder: Researchers have found that men apply to roles when they meet an average of 60% of the criteria.
