Scope of the project (summary):
Contribute to the understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by the Haitian population in their socio-economic integration process in Brazil, to provide evidence that can serve both for the promotion of public policies and for the formulation of UNHCR service programs, in favor of this population, with the aim of improving their living conditions and access to rights and services in the host country.
Objective and scope of duties:
Carry out an in-depth assessment of the socio-economic profile of the Haitian population residing in Brazil based on the analysis of secondary data available in public databases linked to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, the Ministry of Labor and Employment and the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight Against Hunger.
Measurable results:
Preliminary research report, with analyzed results to be validated through a workshop to be held together with key actors with a prominent role in the reception of, and assistance to, Haitian people in Brazil, including the public sector, civil society and international organizations.
CANDIDATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS, SELECTION CRITERIA
Mandatory:
Minimum academic qualification at PhD level in the area of social sciences and applied social sciences, demography, statistics, or specific courses, with special technical expertise in the area of specific consultancy purpose.
At least 10 years of professional experience in areas relevant to the purpose of consultancy.
Proven experience in methodology, collection and analysis of data.
Experience in carrying out data analysis on refugees and migrants is indispensable and must be proven by scientific publications.
Excellent analytical and communication skills; ability to communicate with various interested parties and to express ideas and concepts in a concise and clear form.
Excellent writing and presentation skills in Portuguese.
Desirable:
Links with Cátedra Sérgio Vieira de Mello (CSVM) will be considered as a plus.
Monitoring and Progress Controls
Regular Status Meetings: bi-weekly meetings with the individual contractor and project team to track progress and follow-up.
Prepare and present via e-mail monthly detailed progress reports that outline completed tasks, upcoming milestones, and any deviations from the plan.
Quality Assurance: implement quality control processes to ensure deliverables meet the required standards.
Documentation: maintain comprehensive documentation of all project activities, decisions, and changes to provide a clear audit trail and support future project reviews.
Successful delivery of project output within the expected timeframe.
Data storage: with the support of UNHCR, store all data used on the UNHCR data storage platform (RIDL), in line with the data governance policy.

Eligibility:
This position is advertised to internal and external applicants.
Candidates must be legally present in Brazil at the time of application, recruitment and hire.

Remuneration:
Total amount: USD 15,000.
Payment schedule: 20% first delivery; 45% second delivery; 35% third delivery.
Language requirements:
Portuguese as mother tongue is essential.
Contract duration:
until 31st March 2025.
