We are looking for Lead 2D Artist with strong experience leading a team.
Our 2D Lead will deal with the technical aspects of art such as: artistic processes; tools; task definitions and scheduling.
The lead will also communicate with the stakeholders to identify risks in the Production pipeline.
**Main responsibilities**:
- Interpret our client's game style and IP, and the need for co-development to develop and drive an original and innovative art style for the game;
- Work with other disciplines to establish technical and aesthetic guidelines for in-game art;
- Ensure that all assets created by the art outsource and the co-development unit's POCs (points of contact) conform to the title's style and technical guidelines;
- Participate and execute meetings, reviews and planning as part of effective communication with the team and outsourcing studios;
- Inspire, motivate people managers and guide other artists in best practices, processes and procedures related to production;
- Work closely with the production team in creating timelines for the art department and outsourcing studios;
- Define realistic and stylized characters while working closely with the product owner, CEO and design team;
- Leverage traditional art and anatomy skills to define features and details in any character or creature design;
- Drive the project's visual standards by creating assets that inspire internal and external artists;
- Optimize models, materials and textures to maximize performance on the target platform;
- Use material and texture tools to create approved sculptures;
- Helps to plan, organize and estimate deliveries;
**Main Requirements**:
- Experience in managing art teams and pipelines;
- Experience creating a wide variety of art styles in 2D media;
- Proficient with tools such as: Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Animation Programs and have knowledge in 3D tools (Zbrush, Substance, Maya, 3DS Max );
- High ability to learn new tools;
- Have effective analytical, written, oral, team, interpersonal, planning and organizational skills;
- Experience working with digital games;
- Have worked on at least one digital game as a lead artist or art director;
- Know how to work as a team, give and receive feedback;
- Have experience with Game Interfaces;
- Knowledge in VFX, shader, Unity and Unreal;
- Having a good understanding of how to integrate things and the best way to develop assets for the engine is considered a plus;
- Self-directed with strong communication skills;
- Ability to face challenges and solve problems with a strong sense of ownership;
- Ability to work closely with many other disciplines and be a team player;
- Strong foundational skills including anatomy, design and color theory;
- Advanced understanding of current game art pipelines and methodologies;
- Proven experience in workflows, software and techniques related to character creation;
- Must have the ability to receive and give constructive criticism professionally;
- Ability to efficiently describe and document improvement requests for new tools, pipelines and processes;
- Keeps up with trends, software and technology related to creating complex characters.
