ABOUT THE ROLE The Litigation Manager is responsible for managing litigation in Brazil.
This person will work closely with customer service team and outside counsel with discovery, document collection, and other litigation support and lead the litigation team.
Responsibilities: Act with a focus on civil, consumer and regulatory strategic business litigation (professional practice), without losing the necessary generalist view of the impacts of the issues analyzed in other areas of law, such as consumer, criminal, administrative, etc.
; Support the monitoring of the portfolio of strategic consumer, civil judicial and administrative proceedings of the company; Ensure the release and updating of information in the litigation control process; Update and maintain various internal controls to meet the company's internal compliance rules and also to meet the requirements of regulatory agencies (national and international); Support the monitoring and compliance of internal and external, judicial, administrative and regulatory deadlines, to report to regulatory agencies, forwarding information or subsidies, updating controls that are requested, among other demands; Prepare responses to offices and other requests from public agencies; Prepare out-of-court notifications and responses to out-of-court notifications; Monitor any due diligence in forums or public agencies; Prepare and update reports of procedural monitoring and contingencies; Meet the demands and consultations of the various internal areas of the company; Conduct legal research; Assist the collection of subsidies, preparation of representation documents and other inherent activities to support outsourced law firms; Manage and work collaboratively with internal legal team and outside counsel; Improving and streamlining litigation-related processes and procedures; Providing litigation support and strategy; Performing other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications Superior completed in Law, with registration in the OAB; A minimum of 5 years experience leading/managing litigation team and 10 years of litigation experience, including experience with discovery; Experience with business litigation - civil, consumer, commercial, regulatory, administrative, internal controls; Experience with court matters at Justiça Comum, JEC, PROCON and Consumidor.gov; Must have advanced/fluency in English; In-house experience preferred.
Previous experience in the company's legal department, experience with legal compliance activities and internal controls, as well as with regulatory law will be differential; Good communication and writing; Organization and standard operational procedure oriented; Self-starter; entrepreneurial, "roll up your sleeves" attitude; Ability to work in a fast-paced start-up environment; Exceptional project management and people skills; Interpersonal relationship skills; A strong work ethic, attention to detail and sense of professional accountability; Availability for occasional trips.
