PURPOSE
This position exists to ensure the safe efficient installation, maintenance, and repairs of all mechanical equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning and maintenance
Lead accounts punctual adherence to SITE-specific schedule/shift times.
Attend safety talks.
Complete tasks per issued job cards.
Safekeeping of tools.
Implement maintenance schedules and procedures.
Maintains and repairs all mechanical equipment.
Plan for material (and critical spare parts list) and men to assist with jobs.
Health and Safety
Follow Written Safe Work Procedures.
Evaluate and manage SHEQ risks associated with the day-to-day activities.
Wear the correct PPE for each specific task.
Ensure that all safety procedures and site emergency procedures are followed as per training and SITE-specific standards.
Prepare and deliver daily safety talks in line with the daily activities.
Inspection and reporting
Identifies and prioritizes equipment in need of maintenance and repairs.
Conduct plant inspection of all equipment/tools and default reports in the area of responsibility.
Report all faults and problems to the line manager.
Housekeeping
Practice good housekeeping around all work areas.
Cleaning of tools.
QUALIFICATIONS
Technical Degree in Mechanical.
EXPERIENCE
Experience of 4 years of Mechanical Learnership/Apprenticeship in any of the following fields: Mining/construction/transport/plant hire or manufacturing.
**Large experience in hydraulic systems**: technical specifications and drawings reading, maintenance, parts analysis, and liability. It includes all components, not limited to pumps, valves, sealing, pressurized tanks, pipes, connections, etc.

Knowledge of legislation covering mechanical installations/equipment.

Knowledge and understanding of the legislation, standards, and bylaws applicable to own work environment.
Knowledge of and exposure to Maintenance Standards
