Job Description: INTRODUCTION Our client is looking for an energetic MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN (Fitter / Fitter Machinist) to provide technical services through plant and machinery installation, maintenance, repair, and technical support to their customers.
This is a senior position, and the successful incumbent will be supervising and leading a maintenance team locally, and on occasional nationally and internationally.
Desired Experience & Qualification: N3 Mechanical Engineering Certificate, Fitting, Engineering Drawing, and Mechano-technology.Engineering Trade Centre Certificate – Fitter Machinist/TurnerMinimum 3 years work experience post completion of apprenticeship/learnership trainingRecord of completion of said apprenticeship/learnershipValid Motor vehicle driving license, Minimum code 8Occupational Health fitnessPolice Clearance Certificate (PPC) without record that prevents access to customer siteWilling to travel nationally and internationallyWillingness to be available to attend to job emergency call outs outside normal working hours.Technical Skills: Computer LiteracyJob planning and report writingGood verbal and written communication skills in EnglishAbility to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings, manuals, and instructionsProficient in using precision measuring instrumentsAbility to assess and report on the condition of machinery components & plant instructionsProficiency in operating a wide range of machine shop equipment including, but not limited to hand tools, power tools, alignment, and other fitting specific tooling.Experience in implementing Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and procedures.Key Performance Areas and Responsibilities: Identify health and safety hazards and assess risks in the workplace.Implement workplace procedures in accordance with Health and Safety requirements at customer sites.Implement stipulated quality assurance, control standards, and procedures.Plan and execute small plant installation, maintenance, and shutdown work projects.Determine spare parts, tools, and equipment required for a job.Carry out planned maintenance work in accordance with given schedules and standards.Fault find and repair machinery.Inspect, audit, and report on the condition of plant and machinery.Manufacture machine components in the machine shop in accordance with drawing specifications.Control costs through improvement in usage of materials, time, and manpower.Develop subordinate and junior staff members through coaching and mentorship.Provide regular updates on job progress.Please include MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN in the subject line of your email and include a copy of your pay slip.
