What you'll do
In this function, you will be a scientific and healthcare expert in the field to foster a new way of adding value to the Health System, impacting patients' lives with a specific focus on engaging in high-level scientific exchange, building and maintaining peer-to-peer relationships with external experts, understanding and uncovering unmet medical needs, generating relevant insight, and field implementation of innovative projects or solutions.
You will help develop the medical strategy plan and its implementation within the AstraZeneca framework, mainly based upon the HCPs insights you gather in the field. Building and maintaining peer-level relationships with key external experts will support understanding of the Portuguese healthcare ecosystem to engage with the medical/scientific community in a highly credible, balanced, and objective manner, representing AstraZeneca's dedication to and excellence in science.
Other responsibilities will include:
Work in a cross-functional way as a medical-scientific field expert for this therapeutic area.
Development of solid Field Engagement Plans and x-functional Account Management plans.
Work closely with Regulatory, Market Access, Marketing, and other functions on field-related medical issues and help support the Amyloidosis Therapeutical area planning.
Support local, regional, and global AstraZeneca clinical research programs and externally sponsored research projects.
Help create meaningful real-world evidence data generation projects in collaboration with the Medical HealthCare Transformation Manager.
Provide medical-scientific input on our activities, including their implementation and potentially the material used.
Help set up and provide internal and external medical-scientific training and further education in your therapeutic area.
Organization of and participation in advisory board meetings.
Build and maintain expertise in your therapeutic area by continuous education and by participation in national and international congresses and AstraZeneca events.
Support the Medical Team (Medical Information/Patient Safety) in handling external medical and scientific requests.
Ensure compliance with all local regulatory requirements and AstraZeneca Local and Global Policies and Guidelines.
Your Profile
Essential Skills/Experience:
University degree in a health-related field.
Quick self-learner, ability and willingness to work in a team and independently.
Communicative competence and presentation skills.
Very good command of written and spoken English.
High level of scientific knowledge and ability to analyze and process clinical and scientific data.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including communicating complex technical, scientific, or medical information to broad audience types.
Driving license.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
Previous knowledge and professional experience of working in the pharmaceutical industry (previous experience in Medical Affairs will be a plus).
Previous medical affairs experience in Nephrology, Cardiology, or Internal Medicine is an advantage.
Experience in liaising with healthcare professionals.
Thorough knowledge of the local regulatory and market access requirements related to medical affairs activities is a plus.
Comprehensive knowledge of the legal and ethical framework and the procedural guidelines that apply to the promotion and approval of medicinal products in Portugal.
