The scribe plays a supportive role for the physician. There is an expectation of willingness to accept other duties as assigned to support the doctor and fellow colleagues for the overall growth and health of the organization.Essential Functions: Assist the physician with documentation of the patient's medical record. Be present in the exam room to transcribe the history and examination as given by the patient and the physician. Under the direction of the physician, transcribe the impression and plan, results of tests, prescriptions, and orders. Transcribe any consultations or discussions with family members. List all appropriate diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow-up instructions as directed by the physician. Document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician accurately and thoroughly. Perform clerical tasks as needed by the physician including faxing, phone calls, and referral letters.
