The mission of UNIDO is to promote and accelerate inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID) in Member States, recognized by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).The Directorate of Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Industrial Development (TCS) ensures the Organization's application of strategies for sustainable industrial development related to environment, energy, Micro, Small and Medium-Enterprises (MSMEs), and digitalization.The Division of Energy and Climate Action (TCS/ECA) assists Member States in transitioning to low-carbon and climate-resilient economies through the promotion of renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions.The position is located under the Energy Systems and Industrial Decarbonization Unit (TCS/ECA/ESD) , promoting the emergence and adoption of sustainable energy technologies for decarbonization.PROJECT CONTEXTUNIDO is implementing the project 'Accelerating key net zero Technologies by leveraging industrial decarbonisation investment' (ID 230343) called "ACTION" in Brazil funded by the Mitigation Action Facility (MAF), aiming to revolutionize Brazilian Agriculture with sustainable farming practices and carbon-negative Organo-Mineral Fertilizers (CNOMF).The project targets various sectors including fertilizers production, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, waste management, sustainable resources, and water conservation.The ACTION project's value chain development approach ensures a minimum of 40% female participation.FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIESUnder the supervision of the Project Manager (PM), the expert will be responsible for the following main duties:MAIN DUTIESPlanning and workplanReview the project document and provide technical advice to the PM on project implementation.Conduct stakeholder consultations with Government counterparts to confirm project activities.Execution of activitiesThe expert will be responsible for the topics related to the production, marketing and use of organo-mineral fertilizers, including:Conduct Policy and regulatory framework activities.Conduct Market Study activities.Conduct Business Model Evaluation activities.Conduct Feasibility Studies activities.Conduct Scale-up activities.Conduct Capacity Building activities.Conduct stakeholder consultations to endorse the approach towards establishing funding instrument.Programme/project promotion and outreachLiaise and coordinate work with the UNIDO Project Manager and Brazilian counterparts.Support Project Communication in developing communication materials.ReportingDraft the final report and submit it to the PM.Project contingent activitiesCarry out ad-hoc activities that may arise during project execution.MINIMUM ORGANIZATIONAL REQUIREMENTSEducation: Advanced university degree (master's degree) in agricultural sciences, agricultural engineering, agronomy, chemistry, biology or related fields is required.At least five (5) years of professional experience in fertilizer production and its value chain is required.Fluency in written and spoken English and Portuguese are required.REQUIRED COMPETENCIESCore values:WE LIVE AND ACT WITH INTEGRITY; WE SHOW PROFESSIONALISM; WE RESPECT DIVERSITY.Key competencies:WE FOCUS ON PEOPLE; WE FOCUS ON RESULTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES; WE COMMUNICATE AND EARN TRUST; WE THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX AND INNOVATE.This appointment is limited to the specified project(s) only and does not carry any expectation of renewal.
