Description: To undertake plumbing work for Somkhele Campus, Ilala, Mtuba Manor and the Clinics.
Overview of Duties: The purpose of the position is to establish and implement an ongoing maintenance program for plumbing systems which include but are not limited to potable cold and hot water supply, drainage, sewage systems, septic tanks, and gray water recovery systems. The plumber will be on call to deal with emergency repair work and carry out preventative maintenance to ensure the safe and cost-effective performance of all facilities and assets of all studies.
Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the buildings on minor building maintenance, repair of painting, equipment and plumbing.Install, repair and maintain pipes, valves, fittings, drainage and fixtures (such as sinks, toilets and water dispensers, boilers) in commercial and residential structures.Collaborate with general contractors, electricians and other professionals during construction.Perform routine inspections of plumbing and drainage systems, identifying and diagnosing plumbing problems using appropriate tools and techniques.Complete light construction, carpentry, bricklaying, painting, plastering, flooring, ceiling, roofing, metalwork, light civil and mechanical works.Prepare budgets and cost estimates.Control help desk tickets and job cards as allocated.Keep accurate records of time spent working, description of work performed, and materials used.Adhere to all building codes and regulations while ensuring work performed meets safety standards and follows best practices.Ensure good housekeeping with regards to maintenance workshop and tools storeroom.To be available to assist during events.Any other duties as allocated by Line Manager.Minimum Qualifications: Senior Certificate or equivalent.Certification in Plumbing.Code 08 Drivers Licence.Proficiency in English and Zulu (Oral and Written).Computer Literacy.Registration with Plumbing Industry Registration Board as a Licensed Plumber.Minimum Experience: 3-4 years' experience in Plumbing.Be familiar with the applicable OHS Act.Knowledge of daily maintenance procedures.Skills Required: Good verbal and written communication skills in English.Accuracy and precision.Must be able to work under pressure.Worker Type: Employee
