Offer Description
We are accepting applications for a full-time post-doctoral research scientist interested in working with seed rain ecology and genetics of tropical plant species.
The successful candidate will investigate how animal seed dispersal affects the genetic composition of new tropical plant communities using an experimental setting to study forest regeneration.
The post-doctoral researcher will play a key role in managing field and laboratory teams, assisting and supervising steps from seed collection to seedling germination in the greenhouse, and generating genomic and transcriptomic resources for the selected plants.
Funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), the position is for 24 months with the possibility of extension for an additional 12 months.
The post-doctoral researcher will be part of Dr. Marina Cortes' research group at the São Paulo State University's Institute of Biosciences (IB-UNESP) in Rio Claro, São Paulo state, Brazil, and will have the opportunity to undertake a training period with Co-PI Dr. James Marden at Penn State University, USA.
