Offer Description
The scholarship holder will assist and execute the project that aims to develop diagnostic kits for the detection of emerging diseases caused by Francisella orientalis (FO) and Infectious Spleen and Kidney Necrosis virus (ISKNV) based on chromatographic immunoassay technology with monoclonal antibodies labeled with nanogold, and an ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay) kit for the detection and quantification of IgM in fish after vaccination.
The fellow will work under the aegis of the Health in Fish Farming, one of the Science for Development Centers (CCDs) funded by FAPESP (São Paulo Research Foundation) in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.
He/she will be based at the Research and Development Center for Aquaculture of the Fisheries Institute, an arm of APTA, the state's Agency for Agribusiness Technology, which is part of São Paulo State Department of Agriculture and Supply.
The admitted candidate must show experience in the items described below (this experience must be explained and justified in the cover letter):
Experience in immunodiagnostic techniques (ELISA, Western Blot, Lateral Immunoflow);
Experience in producing antibodies in other animals;
Experience in microbiology;
Experience in experimental fish infection;
Experience handling fish in a water recirculation system.

The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 12,000.00 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
