Offer Description
The project aims to develop and adapt methodologies for quantifying the cumulative effects of human activities on underwater habitats within the Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The findings will support marine spatial planning (MSP) and the management of these protected areas. The work involves identifying, selecting, and mapping components of environmental and social value, along with the various human activities occurring in São Paulo's MPAs, using both primary and secondary data. Additionally, geospatial tools will need to be developed or adapted to model cumulative impact scenarios, with a focus on ecosystem services linked to underwater habitats.
The selected candidate will be based at the University of São Paulo's School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities (EACH-USP) in São Paulo city.
This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the amount of R$ 12,000.00 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
