NoOffer DescriptionThe post-doctoral researcher will be responsible for sampling vegetation to assess the diversity of plant communities under different fire regimes, as well as evaluating the structural parameters of the plant community (fuel load).Research will be carried out within the scope of a scientific project based at the São Paulo State University's Institute of Biosciences (IB-UNESP) in Rio Claro (Brazil) and funded by FAPESP, the São Paulo Research Foundation. Fieldwork will be carried out in Cavalcante, Goiás state.Activities:Sampling and identifying species in the savanna herbaceous layer;Analyzing and curating data;Organizing fieldwork;Assisting in organizing meetings with local stakeholders and delivering courses and lectures;Preparing articles.Requirements:Fluency in Portuguese and English;Experience in sampling and identifying the herbaceous layer of the Cerrado (knowledge of local flora needed);Experience in fire management studies and sampling of fuel load;Medium/advanced knowledge of statistics and data analysis in R or Python;Residence in Rio Claro during the period of the scholarship and frequent fieldwork travels, possible short stay abroad;Valid driver's license (car);CV in FAPESP format, up to 5 pages;Motivation letter (maximum 3 pages) explaining why you want to work on the project, highlighting previous experiences.This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality.
