Job Description SummaryGE Vernova's Power Conversion business provides energy conversion technologies, systems, and services across the power and energy-intensive industries, driving the electric transformation of the world's energy and industrial infrastructure.The Power Electronics Engineer will be responsible for designing low and medium voltage power electronics and electrical design tasks on Drive System projects.
This is a technical role and will involve working in a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to specify, design, validate and start-up MW-scale power electronics for Marine, Energy, and Industry applications.Roles and ResponsibilitiesSpecify, design, implement, and commission drive systems for marine, energy, and industry projects.Develop and test control solutions for power converters.Create and maintain design documentation throughout the project lifecycle.Specify electrical components (cables, filters, inductors, capacitors, transformers, converters, etc.)
for the overall electrical power plant.Liaise with sales, project, commissioning, and service teams.Ability and willingness to travel within the country and overseas for short- and long-term assignments at customer sites and other GE offices.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese and English.Programming, power electronics modeling and control knowledge.Desired CharacteristicsStrong theoretical and mathematical background, with the ability to understand new concepts and learn quickly.Able to make prompt, clear decisions.
Probes for further information or greater understanding of a problem and produces workable solutions.Hands-on experience in AC drives, DC drives, or MV VSI/CSI drive control engineering, power electronic sizing, electrical component sizing and selection, and vendor specification and coordination.Programming knowledge in FBD or ladder in any industrial PLC or HMI system.Good knowledge of induction motors, synchronous motors, and DC motor fundamentals, including speed control methods.
Hands-on experience in drive controls adaptation for any of the motor speed controls for industry applications.Major courses in power electronics converters (MMC, multilevel VSI, LCI, DC drives or cycloconverter), variable speed applications, STATCOM, or active filtering.Master's or PhD degree in Power Electronics.Proficiency in Spanish, German, or French would be a plus.Additional InformationRelocation Assistance Provided: No#J-18808-Ljbffr
