This Pricing Manager role is within the Digital Applications & Support team in Global Machine Pricing (GMP) and will serve as the leader for the Digital Execution & Support team for machine pricing and merchandising systems, tools, and data.
These applications have a significant impact on Caterpillar, dealers and customers as they include the management, administration, and analysis of prices and sales variance (i.e., discounts) for all machine products globally. Major responsibilities include training, managing, and directing a team; serving as the key point of contact relating to application support issues for other leaders in Global Machine Pricing and business partner organizations; and representing GMP from a strategic and tactical perspective for major enterprise initiatives including Mach 1 (SAP facility deployments), Modern Order Management, Order Navigation Experience, and Commercial Order Optimization.
What you will do:
Lead the team that ensures that software applications/tools and business processes focused on analysis and management of revenue, prices, sales variance, sales history, volume forecast, competitive positioning, and related factors are well supported and enhanced.
Liaison between GMP's Product Owner organization, business users, and technical partners (Caterpillar IT and vendors) to ensure that solutions meet or exceed business requirements.
Align priorities and workplans to the Global Finance and GMP strategy in the areas of simplifying and standardizing processes; improving data and systems; and leveraging digital capabilities.
Personally handle high level complicated analysis and problem solving.
Manage, train, and supervise the pricing staff responsible for pricing processes and systems.
Ownership and accountability of revenue related Sarbanes-Oxley controls. Direct the development and maintenance of these controls and mitigation plans as appropriate.
Regular direct external contact with vendor resources and internal contact with upper Caterpillar management.
Guide own development and direct others' continual learning through training and staying abreast of technology changes.
Responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluations of the team.
Limited travel required (< 10% of working time)
What you will have:
Education and Experience: Bachelor degree or equivalent concentrated in information technology, business administration, finance, economics, statistics, accounting, business computer systems, analytics, or related fields; 10-15 years of job-related experience; Prior work experience in Pricing or IT related job role.
Customer Focus: Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.
Data Gathering & Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Negotiating: Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.
Top Candidates Will Have:
Prior supervisory experience
Prior experience in new system design, deployment or support
Familiarity with Pricing systems and processes
Understanding of Caterpillar IT and IT partners
