Could It Be You?The Principal Software Engineer will be involved in the development of functionally rich, robust and scalable back-end GenAI and AI applications through all stages of the Agile software development process from inception to implementation. This person will lead the technical design and implementation of internal and external applications and collaborate with architects, product and business teams to deliver value.The ideal candidate for this role should be able to thrive in dynamic environments, have a strong work ethic, positive energy and the ability to innovate user friendly Marketing Technology applications, following through all stages of the Agile software development life cycle from inception to implementation. The developer will collaborate on a cross functional team including UX Design, QA, Marketing analysts and other engineers in the implementation of core back-end services, and the growth of best practices and technological advancements. The ideal candidate for this role should be able to thrive in dynamic environments, have a strong work ethic, positive energy and the ability to innovate.In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:Developing and debugging code as well as writing automated tests for back-end applicationsPlanning, designing and coordinating software development activities and mitigating the technical risks throughout the software development lifecycle.Reviewing code to ensure quality and correctness of solutionsEnhancing and modifying existing applications as needed to add new features or improve user-experienceMeeting regularly and interacting with a diverse team of business stakeholders, architects and engineers to elicit and define requirements for new applications.Playing an active role in defining and implementing best practices, standards and procedures including quality and delivery methodologiesParticipating in and contributing to all Agile Scrum ceremoniesLeading the support efforts of the application in production, addressing issues in a timely fashion.Providing mentoring to team members to assist them in reaching their career goals.Applying significant knowledge of industry trends to help Questrade improve and build innovative products.Coordinating external software development teams and vendors to define requirements and validate outputs.So are YOU our next Principal Software Engineer? You are if you…You have hands-on experience and proficient knowledge of the following:Degree, diploma or equivalent directly related work experience.Minimum 7 years of experience in web-based technologies.Exposure to the full software development life cycle, including design, configuration, integration, testing and support including, but not limited to, gathering requirements, designing the future state solution, the development work breakdown, as well as supporting quality assurance and post-production efforts.Preferred technical stack:Back-end: .Net core and PythonInfrastructure: Google Kubernetes Engine, and other Google Cloud Platform components.Tools: Gitlab, Jira, Confluence, preferably automated CI/CD.Experience with unit testing frameworks.Strong skills at application performance tuning.Have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills and the ability to interact with multiple levels of stakeholders.Strong documentation, analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent time-management and organizational abilities that facilitate structured teamwork.Experience leading projects and other engineersAbility to work under minimal supervision.Ability to adapt and change based on new business requirements and environment.Data Science or GenAI experience is nice to have.Sounds like you?
